Quick story:

Two years ago when I was at my timeshare down in Fort Myers, I was walking on a dock to grab some photos of the Gulf sunset, when I was at the end of the dock, there was a hitching post that stood above my head about 14 feet, and I happened to look up and there was this massive Osprey just looking at me from above, but seemed poised like it wanted to attack me. I remember I froze and I didn’t even know what to do, it was just such a menacing looking bird and it was much larger than I expected. I felt like an eternity that I stood there, finally it flew over my head out towards the Gulf, and I don’t think I’ve ever had my heart rate that Jacked before. When you see the birds up close, they have fairly large talons and beaks, almost like an offspring of the Eagle in some ways.

Also, I didn’t know that Osprey are big time scavengers. They actually have a ‘live Osprey Cam’ at this resort, and their nest is full of anything you can think of, from straws, paper, plastic, fishing line.

Bit of a story behind this one. Taken at a rest stop in Green River, WY back in 2010 with the Kodak z915. I took two almost identical shots and had trashed one many years ago. Was preparing a slideshow of the trip and when I went to correct the horizon line I lost the top of the butte. Remembering the companion photo I was able to go back as far as 2016 in my back-up files but no luck. Finally pulled out an old external which had been retired when I bought the first MacPro. There it was; 2 back-ups of 2010 photos, the first still had the missing image. Sadly the jpeg level on the camera was set to medium and altering the horizon line created problems in the sky and water, which were largely fixed with a generous dose of selective blurring.

Bassett Army Community Hospital, Fort Wainright, Fairbanks Alaska. Our 3 man consulting group designed all the communications systems, I did all the CAD drawings using the Architect's background drawings. This was our final trip to approve all the systems. About 15 below, so cold they couldn't use salt. All the road were covered in snow most of the time. All the cars had block heaters and parking spaces had outlets.
