Gorgeous! Mandarin Duck?

I just looked to see if our local (Smithsonian National) Zoo is open to the public yet, and sadly it's not..... I am SO looking forward to when I can get down there and spend time communing with the animals again!
I don’t know, honestly. Our zoo has been open for some time now, but they “limit” visitors. I use quotes because it was spring break and it was the most crowded I’ve ever seen it. We didn’t stay terribly long, but we have a family membership so we can go another time when there’s less people. It was so weird seeing that many masked patrons. It doesn’t matter how long this goes on, I don’t think I will ever get used to that.

From the day trip last this past week. We all know beavers build dams. They also take down trees then strip the tender bark at the top, leaving the rest of the corpse to rot. This was a cottonwood tree.
Along rivers they don't even bother building dams.

I am reluctant to admit it, but I do find myself put live and dead trees in my EVF often, and black an white brings out the details.
