Decided to go Sepia for this old grain elevator in Fort Macleod, AB. From last weeks day trip.

He is still rare, I will contact a wildlife agency and see what they say. You can search for "Albino Raccoon" and see a lot more, most are lighter and totally tan, but a few look like him.

It's strange, because we only live about 30 miles from London, yet I'm so familiar with the sights that I've never bothered to take photos ;)
Maybe I should take my camera next time we go up there.

Cheers :)

I am the same way, lived in Munich for over 4 years and not a single photo... and almost the only time I took local photos was with the kids when they were growing up ... and today it would be that much easier with the iPhone, but no ... ☹️😄

I don’t think he’s albino. He has different colored markings, they are just light toned.
From what I could find, he is not an albino but a 'Blonde' raccoon, which is caused by another disorder that greatly reduces their pigmentation but not totally like a true albino. Still kind of rare.

“Leucism is a genetic mutation that results in reduced pigmentation in all or part of an animal's fur, feathers, or scales, A leucistic animal is usually all or partially white while retaining some normal colors.”

that's is a brilliant photo....I may join you in ownership...thanks
They're sharp, good in low light, and pretty well regarded, but the VC (Vibration Control) can be a little jumpy and sometimes needs to settle down for a second before taking the shot or you may get a blurred photo; either that or turn the VC off for action shots as it isn't vital at those focal lengths if you have a steady hand.

Cheers :)

thanks for the tip...found one on KEH at a decent price....reviews are favorable. I will sell off my kit lens and move to this. Was debating between this one and the Nikon 17-55. The Nikon was at least $250-300 more. This is fine for me and my needs and in the focal range I wanted. Best and thanks again

If you can afford to the 18-140mm is quite a good lens (even though it's a "kit" lens) and may be worth keeping as well for that little extra reach when needed.

Cheers :)

Yes, the 18-140 has been my main lens and it does a nice job. The kit Nikon 18-55 F/3.5-5.6 is going. The 18-140 is staying...as well as my only prime lens. (35mm f/1.8).

Same with me and the Air Force Museum. About 4- 50 minute drive, and my wife and I run in the Air Force Marathon races (6k, 10k, 1.2 marathon, full marathon) that start and stop at the museum, but it has been upwards of 10 years since I took any pictures. :(

Sorry, I misunderstood. Sometimes the 18-140 is supplied as a kit lens, but yes if you buy the Tamron it will make the 18-55 redundant.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Cheers :)
