I grew up in Savannah, GA and at one point (don't know if it's still true) the city had maybe the second largest St Patrick's Day parade in the US. The Savannah River always got the green treatment. Lots of fun and very, very green!:D
Sounds like fun. We had a parade too but I didn’t attend. It was so packed downtown I got stuck in the crowd for a minute and couldn’t move it was so many people On the bridge. Normally I don’t do big crowds like that but I was invited on a river cruise to take photos so I went since I had never been to see the dyeing of the river before. It was freezing, but we had fun too.

I was curious.

- Since the only means that dogs have to release heat from their bodies is through their tongues and the pads of their paws, mushers won’t run them if there’s a risk that they’ll get “fried.” -

The New Yorker

That is true. These dogs (above) are running for short periods of time, up to 20 minutes or so. The mushers are of a young age. There are 2-dog to 6-dog teams, and the younger kids run the 2-dog teams in a very short trail as you can see here:

Here in town, I see dogs pulling people all the time, only there’s no snow or sled!

I can imagine that a Saint Bernard could drag a lightweight person quite a distance on a paved road :)

There are some 3-wheeled carts that are designed for dogs to pull. The person sits on the cart, and the dog pulls. But the smarter dogs prefer to ride in a cart that is towed by its owner on a bicycle.

⛰ If you ever plan a trip to visit Las Vegas, Nevada. Put this location into your bucket list. This brings the finest engineering of the 21st century. 🧭

Growing up, my buddy down the street had a big energetic dog, and he’d let the dog pull him down the street while he was on a skateboard. Both seemed pleased with the arrangement. :D

Yes, I remember when I learned about this project, there was a website that tracked the progress, and I’d check in on it regularly. With the dam, the bridge, and the hydroelectric facility with its near-horizontal transmission towers, it sounds like quite the engineering field trip!
