There was a photowalk past that a few months ago, ever go on those? http://www.photowalkingutah.com

No, never really have much time outside of work for organized events. But that building is striking if you happen to wander over near the west side Trax terminus.

My contribution for the day ...another Salt Lake City 'landmark' ... cheap pizza ...

Sunset at Maryport...

That's a stunning sunset. I like it specifically because the foreground is dark leaving the golden sky as the main attraction. Is this normal for this time of the year, or is it the ash?

Thanks for the feedback. To keep the foreground dark I just exposed for the sky itself (or, rather, I bracketted wildly... as I do when the lighting conditions are 'interesting' ;)). I haven't noticed any difference in light/weather due to the ash...

the bokeh in the baby's eye makes it look like he has a monocle! lol

lovely photo that delivers a great narrative

Haha, I noticed that after I had exported the photo. But that photo worked the best from the others I had shot. I am going to take it into photoshop and see if I can clean it up a bit. I really just hadn't had time to play with those photos. I just did some quick adjustments in Aperture and exported them to flickr.

Something a little different.

Even though I just bought my first SLR-- the incredibly awesome T2i-- I haven't spent all my time taking pictures. If any of you are gamers, you probably know that Bungie launched the HALO REACH beta this Monday, and in it's first day it was played by over 1,000,000 unique gamers. In Halo 3 the Theater and Photo system was introduced and it is still present in HALO REACH. Here is a image I took using the game's photo feature and processed in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

P.S: HALO REACH isn't the only game with a photo function. WipeoutHD for the Playstation 3 has an even more expansive photography function allowing you to tweak DoF, shutter speed, along with setting up your composition/angle and Focal length like you can in REACH.
