Second star on the right....
I string rackets and for some reason I like taking photos of the string pattern close up. (Shot with the S8)
Used to do that in my youth. In fact met my wife when she came out as a guest to the country club where I was working the summer I got out of the Army.

Congrats Hugh! I'm 6 weeks into retirement and loving it. Stress disappeared overnight, I've got travel plans, our garden is looking the best it has in years, I'm sleeping well for the time since I can remember...what's not to like.

Enjoy Hugh,
Peter
Congrats guys. Two years in myself. Nice to not be getting up at 5AM, leisurely breakfasts reading the news and MR. And pursuing new hobbies like photography!
John

Mid 40's, I was thinking the same thing oblomow...just a young pup. Mid 40's seems like a long time ago. The only thing longer is the hair that's now growing out of my ears and nose instead of my head.

Wow, very pretty scene anotherscotsman.

I am hanging onto my "early 40s" status as long as I can. Another 6 months and I have to resign myself to mid-40s. I can remember that fateful day at the barbers , that day I heard these words for the first time... they have haunted me eversince... "would you like your ears trimmed sir?"... eh!? WTF!?!? trimmed? what? lol...

Yep I had to resign myself to the mid forties status a couple of month's ago. The barber's is a long distant memory for me now though ;)

Just don't ever, and I mean never, let the missus talk you into having your back waxed. It's barbaric torture. :(

One of the many great things about retirement is embracing an attitude of "I can do what I want, when I want". That includes letting your grow where it really shouldn't. Shaving...maybe once a week if I feel like it.

Anyway, I'm getting into wierd areas and gotta go as I have a busy day planned...it's garbage pick-up day today.

How much crop is involved here?

Regards Sharkey

Not much. All the photos I've posted in this thread have been cropped square for Instagram. This one I accidentally cut the tip of the top petal off, so when I squared it up, I took an equal amount off the other three sides. But essentially it's just a square crop of the original image.
___________

ETA: Here is the in camera crop.

Wow! you have been holding out on us! loving this last one. Enjoying seeing you discover a new camera and enjoy it... keep em coming...

Anyone got an Olympus camera on here? I read a forum about a develop mode? not sure if that is the right name. Basically where a long exposure can be taken and you watch the image "develop" on the screen and then take your finger off the trigger once it is how you want it. Anyone use that and can give more info?
