Lonesome Tree #2 by Ray Harrison, on Flickr
I’ve been fascinated watching the sparrows and goldfinches eating the dandelion seeds. They will make quick work of one if given the chance.
Well, it was a novel experiment, but I sent it back. It was a used lens, and the zoom on it was a bit grindy for my tastes. Also, it’s a heavy bugger, and after 20-30 minutes with it in the field, my right hand was really feeling it, and that was with it strapped over shoulder, not around the neck. I may still eventually get the PL50-200, but I’m laying low on gear buys for now.Good luck with it !!

I'd read on a number of sites that the zoom on the 100-400 wasn't smooth , maybe it's on all the samples of that particular lens . Well at least you gave it a try , and were able to return it . I carried around a 5D2 + 100-400L for too many years and know well your experience re: heavy lenses .Well, it was a novel experiment, but I sent it back.
