Caught via a walkabout within a local neighbourhood community garden early yesterday morning --- captured by the shapes, sizes, and colours. Camera in my iPad Mini 4.

Tree and nice sky, looking west at my grandparent's house (now owned by someone else). Dad moved his mother out ~30 years ago as she was too old to take care of herself and the place. It was my grandfather's family's place before that, so been in the family almost 100 years. Behind the shrub (lilac?) is a large front yard we used to have whiffle-ball games on. Good memories. The current owners have taken very good care of it.

Looks like that ribbon in that Star Trek movie. COOL!!!

I was driving the squeeze home. She lived about an hour away from the town I lived in. And it looked 'weird'. I couldn't help but notice the green tint around, and it looked way to bright for past midnight. So we pulled over, and I lept out and my jaw hit the pavement. 360 degrees of aurora borealis. From groundd to zenith, SOLID quivering shimmering aurora. I was gobsmacked... They got out andd were mesmerized too. It was just totally incredible. The road, andd surrounding area for miles was farm land, so no light pollution, so we stoodd there, leaning against the car, just in total awe of the spectacle playing out above us. Nothing short of OMG!!!

Turned out that was a rather high 'solar max', and satellites were suffering the damage. But it was ann enchanting evening. I stopped on the way back just to stare at the sky. We sure live onn an amazing planet. Wow...

Thannks for posting, it sparked a lot of memories. I actually remember sitting onn my deck watching the last one peter out during the overcast skies with small glimpses of the sky show...

Thanks for sharing your beautiful story. And yes, watching the Auroras with your own eyes instead of through the camera is an incredible experience. Sometimes they look like they are dancing in the sky, or rolling over themselves like ocean waves across your field of view. Sometimes they move and change colors too fast for the camera to capture the details.
