No idea what this thing is , save for it being a bird . Can't remember seeing similar birds on previous trips , but this year there were lots ...

I think this may be an Oystercatcher, although they are usually black; not sure if there is a variety of the species which is brown and white also.....?

Tanagra (not really)
It never ends. My kids are 13 and 15 and I still feel like I am hauling food in all the time. ?
Yes, it feels like with my 3, someone is always hungry. Now finding something they'll actually eat....

Amazing DOF. Is this a f/2.8-lens?
Taken with the Pana-Leica 100-400 at 400mm. F6.3 is as low as it goes at 400mm. I was maybe 20 feet away, so that helps the DOF for the distant background. It's a great, lightweight bird/wildlife lens.

Thanks! The RF version is a beast. I hope to have the R5 and some RF glass by the end of the year :)
I am keeping all of my EF lenses. The only RF lens I have is the 100-500mm, and will be adding one RF 1.4x TC. Those who already have the latest version of the EF 100-400mm aren't gotting rid of it because oil its great IQ. The same for the very expensive EF Primes from 400mm to 800.

You need to watch Apple TV's "The Earth at Night" Season 1, Episode 4. In the last segment it follows a photographer who treks 8 KM in to a boreal forest in the winter to get away from light pollution to film the Northern Lights. Fantastic footage, you will enjoy the rest of episode and the whole series as well. Here is Apple's
link to the film on ATV (not a "posted photo", for reference only so don't yell at me, technically it is my photo of my tv!):

I have a bunch of EF lenses as well, works just as great with the adapter on my EOS R5 and R6.
But, I'm trigger happy on the RF 400mm f/2.8 (and perhaps sell the EOS R6, RF 100-500, EF 16-35 f/2.8 III, EF 24-70 f/2.8 II and my EF 70-200 f/2.8 III to partially financing it)
I'd like to isolate my subjects more. I know the 100-500 is versatile and light, great for hiking and in my backpack and the 400 is rather heavy and not that versatile at all. I guess the bad comes with the good. I'm using my 100-500 exclusively at 500mm (sometimes at 400mm) and the 400mm f/2.8 with a RF 1.4 extender I get that extra reach.
