Incredible lens, and one I never thought I could reasonably afford. However I was lucky enough to pick up a 'damaged' VR1 version for £160 (about $198). The usual 2nd hand price is in excess of £500.
The damage was limited to the lens surround, and it was described as being unable to take the hood or lens cap. However the inner thread quite happily took an 82mm metal hood and an 86mm cap fitted the whole thing perfectly, and has hidden any broken parts.

Beautiful photo, you need to have that framed and put on your wall. Nice balance between the delicate reeds and the soft background.

That is a really sweet shot. Thanks for sharing that one!
I planted columbines a couple of years ago, and they are native here, but somewhere along the way I lost it...I suspect a landscaper pulled it out as a weed when they mulched. I should buy some more. I think Hugh's is a double one, which is why it looks different.View attachment 2006898
This is the aquilegia/columbine I was talking about yesterday.
I find more interesting the pink one.
It is a hardy plant. Even here in the interior of Alaska columbines survive in our (wife and I) backyard. We have pink, white, purple, and a very dark blue columbines. The snow is melting, so we still have to way a few weeks for them to poke out of the soilI planted columbines a couple of years ago, and they are native here, but somewhere along the way I lost it...I suspect a landscaper pulled it out as a weed when they mulched.
