It has been a foggy fall

Took a trip back to Los Angeles. I've missed the ocean and palm trees but not the traffic. :)
My first attempt with blue hour and a mono pod.

Another interesting shape from yesterday's experiment. Should have gone with a higher ISO on this one (according to a friend at work). Still interesting experiment for me.

That's nothing. I remember filling up my parents Mustang at $0.24 per gallon.

Nice pic. I like the framing and colors.

Dale

Thanks Dale...sad to say that I too remember those days.

What a find!

It would have been an amazing find if it was still pump gas at that price.

That's gorgeous!

Thanks Goftrey...support is always appreciated! :)

Love this shot Alex....well done! The composition is outstanding...especially the way it fades out to the left.

Had a play with some inside stuff today. Not the best results, but was a bit of fun. The off flash lighting was an LED torch. Got some interesting shapes in the water.

Not very sharp and heavily cropped, but I think he looks like a little alien!

I have to be honest AFB and say that I don't think that it's a matter of lack of sharpness - I think it's pretty much out of focus.

I can understand why you would like this type of shot - water with bubbles and the reflections can very cool. I would suggest that you add more light, increase your shutter speed, maybe increase your depth of field a bit, nail that focus and most importantly...keep trying.

I'm running out of things to post. So here's a shot of someone's garden near where I live. Donkeys and MG's in the same garden. You don't see that very often.

My camera is winging it's way back from the repair shop as we speak and I can't wait!

Lovely range of colours. Makes me warmer just looking at it!

Agree there were lots of things I could improve with this shot. I'll have another play next weekend. Lighting is going to be a problem though until I can get some external flash guns. Currently I have the built in and a torch (which is why 90% of my stuff is outside!)

The Sitting Emperor

This is Falls Creek Falls in southern Washington state. I spent a few days earlier in the week exploring the Columbia River Gorge, mostly on the Oregon side but on the final day, I hooked up with a couple of my photographer friends from Portland who kindly showed me some secret spots.

This is a single exposure, Canon 5DMkII, focal length 17mm, 1/5 sec, ƒ/13, ISO 800. I teach my developing process via screen sharing over Skype. Check http://www.howard-snyder.com/Photoshop-For-Photographers for further info.

Got myself a new Epic V8. Massive upgrade from the plastic sea kayak I had.

Love the colors in this capture, Peter.

Thanks AFB and Florian.

This was one of those scenes that you stumble upon unexpectedly (I didn't see it in any of the guide books), it takes your breath away and you think to yourself how fortunate you are that you did find it. And you know, beside my wife and I, there wasn't another soul anywhere near the place...which made it my kind of tourist stop.
