I was walking up the hill by the lake when I heard these geese taking off. I knew they would appear from behind the trees so I got ready in the second I had. I didn't have time to tweak my settings and I had to guess where to focus. I had to do quite a heavy crop, but with an 18mm-55mm lens this is the best I could achieve. Apart from the grain I'm quite pleased with it. I'll post a wider shot of the same thing tomorrow.

Sunrise atop Dune 45, Namibia

Another one from my African adventure!

After scaling what we could of Dune 45, one of the worlds highest sand dunes, we enjoyed the spectacular sunrise and the view that appeared before us!

This is simply stunning!! I hope to see this for myself one day!

A picture from my road trip earlier this. 6 weeks - 13 National Parks.

This shot is of Mesa Arch in Canyonlands Nation Park in Utah. It is roughly one hour from Moab. An early start, but one of the best sunrises in the world IMO :)

EDIT: Okay this isn't displaying the pic? Any ideas what I have done wrong?

EDIT: Okay, I think I got it right.... :)

So same shot but a different crop today. Not sure which I like the best.

Hiker

Joe King. Alway liked your stuff. Such nice colours and the timing is always spot on. Mine for today. Playing with NIK plug ins and Apple Aperture. This is my hiking bud, Eric ! That day, the temp was below -20C. I kept the camera exposed to the cold but found it allowed for zillions of sensor spots. Now I suspect the spots were signs of frost building on the sensor. Lesson learned... don't let the camera get down to -20... ??
