I'm curious, what time of day was this picture taken (which is very nice by the way)? Was it cloudy as well? Thanks.

It was twilight, yesterday, which was about 4pm, I think. At this time of year there's an early 'window of opportunity'... when the artificial lights and the ambient light are 'in balance'. It may only last 20 minutes, but it's a chance to get a few pix even on gloomy days. Yes, it's cloudy, but, for this kind of pic, that doesn't seem to matter...

The wave - Kauai, Hawaii

DSC_1875-XL.jpg

There's a spot on the island of Kauai where the waves crash against the high cliffs of the Napali coast. If timing is right, the receding wave collides with an incoming wave to create spectacular and violent plumes of water that shoot 30 to 40 ft in the air. An absolutely amazing sight and sound.

Awesome capture -love the high-key effect as well.

Nothing technically spectacular about this and I shot it on my iPhone but one of my favorite photos from my trip to Scotland - today is my last day :( . The hairy coo is giving me the side eye. haha. It's a great memory and it makes me smile.

Hairy Cooooo

You've obviously caught the accent :)

The photo is beautiful. It's still hard for me to go over there. I've never visited the memorial to this day.

As for the accent, the Scottish accent is my favorite. Blame Sean Connery, exacerbated by James McAvoy. Lol

I love them!! As soon as we got out of the van they started to walk over from the middle of the field. They knew some treats were in hand. Haha. They were very friendly.

The memorial took me by surprise. I didnt expect it to affect me like it did. A strange feeling of unease and silence descends on you. It is a very haunting experience. I highly recommend you go pay respect - and that is what it is. There is one piece in it where the last concrete pillar stands. That above all else demolished me emotionally. quite the sobering moment.

I loved that people put roses in the names in the memorial. Such a beautiful thing to do. I hope to go back again.

The coos... the coos are all slimy nosed, nosy parkers! they are great to see but I hate it when they rub their wet noses on my jacket!

What else did you get up to? Did you get up North or at least into the countryside?

Daughter got nice pics on honeymoon there a couple of months ago, but this shot is really spectacular in catching the the spray and colors

Wow...this is a great shot anotherscotsman. Not easy to get so much into a shot like this and do it so well. Great job on the processing and correcting vertical distortion.

A beautiful capture of hallowed ground. Well done, ASM. I am old enough to have seen the original Twin Towers go up and tragically saw them come down. I was born in Brooklyn and grew up in the NY Metropolitan area, I visited ground zero several years ago while the new Freedom Tower was under construction but this Memorial Pool was not yet built. It is definitely on my bucket list to go back and experience this site.
