Something like a backlight to accentuate the contours? I see what you mean, but what the portrait mode produced here looks fairly artificial in my opinion.For me that bright light is putting character to the pose. Like a blast or a shade of light in the background. If you know what I mean.

It would have been nice to get in closer but apparently that isn't a safe thing to be doing but I would've tried if I could've...I guess that's why the Mrs says I have a "reckless abandon" approach to photography.
