this is an amazing capture. how close were we?
Not that far, perhaps 15 feet. It was taken at Blackpoint which is a one way lane elevated dirt berm drive through marshlands and internationally known birding destination. This was on a canal along the road perhaps as wide as the road. Initially thought was a juvenile water moccasin but zooming to pixel peek, not a viper head, so is a non-poisonous water snake.
