Another older RAF. B&W converted in On1, the only editor I have that knows what to do with RAFs!

i read that people really like capture one for fuji files but so far they match my nikon files pretty easily in lr. 🤷🏼‍♀️ i did our family photo with the fuji and individual photos with the nikon for different focal lengths and easily matched all the images.

i’ve actually had a harder time matching two different nikon bodies in the past.

Yeah, I don't have CC or anything, and I don't even have a Fuji camera right now. I have heard Capture 1 is one of the better solutions for RAF though. I think DxO has finally figured out what to do with them as well, but I don't know how good their first take on it is. PureRAW1 didn't support them, but PureRAW2 does.

I use ON1 as my main editor for photos from my Fuji XT3 (my only camera).
I had a recent version of Capture One Pro that did produce some great results.
I just didn’t care for the interface.
I bought DXO Photolab 5 last year, believing the hype about how it does Fuji raw files. Very expensive program to get what I already had. I used it for a while, but ended back in ON1.

I tried Capture One Pro also, for the perpetual license, and found it confusing. Probably comparing it to Lightroom, which I currently use.

Totally! There are so many great options for processing raw images, it is often more work than its worth to change from something we're used to. Opposite to you, I use Capture One and love it, and dislike Lr's interface/UX, so for me it isn't worth the pain of moving to, even if I wished to do so. I love the choices out there! :)

Yesterday was not our first snow of the season, but it was our first heavy snow. Several inches, and not light powdery stuff: wet, heavy, and probably a layer of ice underneath by now. The grackles and starlings have moved on for the winter season we were SWARMED by little birds. Sparrows, finches, siskins, chickadees, the occasional cardinal.

I tried all day to somehow get a photo to capture this, with little success. On video I could, because of all the motion. I didn’t have to isolate the perfect moment in a volatile frenzy.

In the end I gave up trying to get the whole tableau (they were overwhelming three feeders and a suet log, and I do mean all day), and concentrated on just the on feeder of which I had the clearest view. I ended up with two I was sorta happy with. Here’s one, I’ll share the other tomorrow.

Even this photo doesn’t capture what it was like, it was just one where all the birds in flight were reasonably sharp and in good “poses.” Imagine 3-6 more birds in this frame, with constant churn. And then imagine that at three feeders. It was Hitchcockian.

I am in no way comparing myself to Ansel Adams, but I understand why he spent years remaking the same prints over and over again with different editing. I've spent more time on this "simple film" image than almost any digital image.

For colour or something else?

Yes, for color. I never could get my D700 and D800 to match well. If I shot in studio with the same strobe, I needed different Kelvin white balance numbers. The algorithms and rendering were just really different.

Do you use a Color checker passport and create profiles for them? If you did they would be spot on.

No, i just use my eyeballs. 🙂 I didn't use them in tandem very often that it really mattered, so I just fussed with them in post.

I compare myself to Ansel Adams all the time!

—He had a beard and I have a soul patch
—He favored brimmed hats and I occasionally wear a baseball cap
—He was shorter than I am. Or taller, I forget
—He placed his stamp forever on the art of photography, and I taught my dog to count
—I root for the Minnesota Twins and he rooted for the Seattle Mariners
—I am married to my wife and he wasn’t
—He is no longer with us and so far I’m immortal
—We are/were both right-handed
