Quasi tilt-shift. Yes it's a gimmicky shot, but I think it's sometimes fun to play in post (especially when all the processing was done on my iPhone).

Does this mean you'll be coming round to my shack with a bowl of chicken soup and a hot blackcurrent drink? No, I didn't think so... :D

^^^I'll see what I can do. Bono has been after me to come visit him. I could jet to Belfast and rent a car for the drive down to your place. Or maybe he'll let me use the limo.

^^^I love the red against green that is captured in the right part of the frame, but the washed out part on the left is distracting. If you ever get back to shooting this, see if you can frame it with more green in the back.

^^^Nothing but outrageous!

who did you do that

I used an iPhone app (TiltShift Generator) to edit a photo I had previously loaded on my iPhone. You have control over the type of blur (linear vs radial), the size of the in-focus area, and the placement and alignment of the sharp zone. Works quite well with a touch-screen interface.

Possible to do it in Photoshop too--it's just quite a bit more involved. There was a thread in this forum about a year ago on the technique. Some really interesting images there.

Found this thing on my last trip to Belize. Must have been 4 inches long! When I saw its shadow through the leaf it was on I thought it was a lizard . Anyway , it was 6:30 AM and cool so the bug was real cooperative and let me get a head shot ( among others ) . Canon 5D , 100 macro w/ Kenko 2x extender , f14(?) @ 200 , 430 EX flash

What did you use to scan - nice.

1920's? Those buildings in the back don't look like they're from the 20's...

Minor misunderstanding .... I meant the 20's as in 21st ST.,22nd St. @c . Maybe referring to locations as being in the 20's , 30's and so forth is a NYC colloquialism . Anyway , what struck me about this was the contrast of the relatively new building in the back with the (probably '20s , maybe earlier)
stuff in the front . Wonder if the TV antennas are still hooked up?

Thanks for clarifying (thought so) - Chicago boy here - our downtown streets have names... ;)

TV antennae could very well be - you can use them for DTV. :)

Nothing special. Just an older Epson Perfection comparable to the one they sell for ~130 USD now. I did scan the print at 600 dpi, though. I wanted a lot of pixels in case I wanted to colorize it someday. Minor Levels adjustments in PhotoShop. Just a nice photo to start with. That always helps.
