I like how this has turned into a portrait sub thread... Here is my contribution. 40D, 11-18mm Tamron, 1 off camera (camera left) strobe. I corrected most of the distortion in PS... Using UWA lenses for people can be tricky but it can lead to some cool stuff too!

Wherever I hang my hat...
Didn't know my portrait would raise such a debate! :p

Thank all of you for your compliments. It was such a quick, impromptu shoot that we just went with what clothes we were wearing.

And yes, she is very very pretty on her own and a pleasure to work with. She makes my job much easier from a lighting/composition stand point.

Well, you got people to notice your shot... :)

A limited colour scheme (nothing too 'busy', nothing too distracting...) would help to bring out her natural beauty. Many colours would harmonise with the green leaves... but this particular orange just isn't one of them.

It would be interesting to experiment with different colours... to see which works and which doesn't. After all, you have a 'controlled environment' to work with... and a model with a relaxed, natural air...

The inner sanctum...

Ah yeh forgot it was a thread thats been carried on ;)
I've really taken a shine to photography since Ive got my DSLR it allows me to experiment with more freedom over the final image and RAW is a good bonus.
Thanks for the compliments, these were both actually scrap images from other days and I didnt have time to shoot those days so i published photos from the previous day. I actually started out with a black and white, fully manual, film course so its what I know best. (although I prefer others to the latest ones) But thanks! No photo today but I will do some serious shooting tomorrow!
Luke.

Edit: also sorry I cant provide feedback for your images colour as I'm colour blind :/ I guess that helps me shoot in B&W!
Just wondering, but what did you upgrade from?
I'm using a F5 right now, and I don't have a scanner at home, which makes it such a pain to do HDR/editing and so forth.

Over there------->
Do you have the EXIF data on this?
What camera is this taken with?

The EXIF data is in the photo, so if you have an EXIF viewer for your browser (like this one), then you can just right-click on the photo to see the EXIF.

At any rate, I took that with my previous camera, an XSi. Here's the info:

40mm, f/8, 1/250s, ISO 200

Lens was the 17-55/2.8.

Well, I guess I haven't reached that age, yet... :p where I'd be distracted from that woman's eyes, lips and hair... the orange thing didn't stand a chance, and until someone actually mentioned it ;) I didn't even know it was there... :)

<...just pulling your leg there a bit, Sir. ;)>

Staying on the subject of headshots, here's one from my most recent shoot. I haven't posted in awhile because I've been getting settled in to college. Enjoy!
