Nice capture. Are you standing in the water then and what do you do about your tripod? Is it rustproof?

Thanks, yes I was standing in the water, in a more shallow section.
I don't do much about the tripod, I usually use an old one, but it's rusted beyond safe use now so I reluctantly used my new CF legs. Gave it a hose down when I got home, I wouldn't recommend using a new tripod.

Ocean-proof tripods are available, but they >$1k.

I wish I lived near the sea. Here in Birmingham we are miles from the sea.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last photo. Encouragement always adds fuel to my fire, so I really appreciate your kind words. :)

I would love to get a book with all of your photos, since I would never be able to choose just one to hang on my wall. Let me know if you ever make one! :)

You don't have to choose just one print; you could order prints of them all! :D But yeah, I have been plugging away slowly at a book project. It won't be ready any time soon, though. I'm hoping to have it done in the first half of 2015 (too much else going on until then). Anyway, thanks so much for your interest in my work!

It's been a while since I last posted... here's a shot from this evening. (click for larger)
The water is getting nice and warm now, warmer in the water than out on the rocks in the cold wind :p

Nice sense of depth in this one, Reef. The idea of warm ocean water sounds very appealing right now. Lucky you!

Absolutely! I was standing in the park when I took the picture of the new ferris wheel. It is right across the street from the park.

Nice timing with the light picking out the statue.

You really captured the sense of intensity here. It's hard not to get caught up in their rapture.

About as "Doylemesque" as they come. Such a charming scene!

Sunset over the tree line. The ISO was a bit high, and the resulting noise takes away from the overall look, but I like the cloud formations and subsequent colors in the sky as dusk came upon me the other evening.

As already mentioned...great composition! This one's a winner!

I really like this beautifully composed shot. Well done Keleko. :)

Thanks for the kind words. I'm trying to decide which picture to submit for the walk contest. Over on Facebook that first one I shared has gotten the most votes for it, too. The ones I'm sharing here are in my top picks list, so the comments here are also helpful in helping me decide.

Keleko, my vote is for the one with the ferris wheel. BTW, my abandoned VW bug photos were taken on the same WWPW event. I submitted the first photo I posted with the broken antenna and side view mirror.

At least we've got Canals and Selfridges!

You like Selfridges? I used to work for the company that made those domes. All spun by hand by two men. John and Brian. I still haven't been in to town to take some pictures yet (only took up hobby in June).

Another shot from the abandoned VW bug. BTW, the leaf was already there and not placed in the photo. :)

Just out of curiosity do you mention the leaf thing because you see it as cheating? I know some photographers are dead against stageing. Others think it's the only way.

To be honest I'm getting a bit bored of it now. Talking of the domes, I remember Birmingham City Council had one in the board room at the planning dept.

Mine for today. Good news is this came 4th in our works camera club competition, bad news is there were only 4 competitors!

Keep trying, I wish our place would have something similar - that said I do go to a Camera club near where I live.
