Photo of the Day October 2014

Met a really interesting South African guy on the train home this evening. He was having some issues with a Fuji Instax camera he had just bought and I offered a hand and took his photo with it. In return I asked if he'd let me take his portrait. Super interesting and friendly fella. Quite clearly a foreigner as we chatted about life for about half an hour and he didn't just avoid eye contact like most people on my commute.

Fuji X100 @F2.8

I'm pretty pleased with how it came out considering the jerking of the train and the dismal light.

I'dve got a roasting for that! Mrs Kenoh doesn't like me taking pictures. Neither do our two little princesses. They run for cover as soon as they see a lens pointed at them.

Unless I setup the camera on a tripod and let them take pictures of each other... After I delete all the pictures of the full cast of soft toys, then maybe I will get one shot... Our 5 year old's teacher wants a picture of her for her file. I could have cried in excitement at the chance to get her to sit. Alas no! She still won't let me. I thought a nice low key shot of her would be a good project but she has other ideas...

Great shot as always. Reminds me of this selfie I took last year that always makes me laugh because of the way my head is distorted by the mirror.

Same issue here. I have only a handful of pictures of my wife and daughter, and nothing recent. I need an invisible camera!

Brilliant backstory and great portrait, well done.

Cheers dude. It's nice when you can connect with a stranger and share a brief moment in time with them and then go your separate ways. A very rare occurrence on a dreary and soul destroying commute and very much appreciated.

Nice photo, but that gardener needs to sort out those trees. That similarly could be so much better if he had a tape measure.

My experience with street photography and strangers is quite different. Perhaps I need to be more subtle…again, well done.

No such backstory for my pic of the day. :)

For subtle street photography, I suggest a D4s and 200-400 lens.

You don't look half as scary in that picture as you do in your avatar!

Glasses help I think and I'm smiling. Usually I wear contacts and my resting face has been described as "unapproachable"......by my wife no less.

Talk about ominous! Looks like something from an old, scary B&W monster movie. Love it.

"The giant killer petrol tank worker from the deep"! Thanks :)

Just love this shot. His expression speaks so much more than a regular 'say cheese' smile. Great story to go with it too!

Another for today, another b&w silhouette taken a while ago on my film Pentax KX.

Lets not even get into what your avatar looks like! :)

Thank you, I scrolled back to his post and had a good look at his avatar... Some things cannot be unseen...
