One of the folk singers, from a small local festival.

Potentially a nice photo….. spoiled by the bane of trying to get a decent photo of singers, the microphone in front of his face!

When photographing musicians I get into a position where there is likely to be an unobstructed view of the face when they turn away or pull back from the microphone, then snap the moment. It takes some anticipation, practice and patience.

Thanks for the great tips @Micky Do ! I'll definitely keep them in mind for the future. As one who normally only does macro, architecture and landscapes, it was a definite step out of my comfort zone, but something I will keep at when the opportunity arises.

Here's another folk singer from the same little festival, with two flaws to the image I can see. One being the microphone in the way of her face and the other being the eyes are closed!

I think the shadows look fine on Flickr ken. But darker on here. Strange.

Another one from Amsterdam.

Really wanted the top of the tower and the bridge in the same shot, but my 50mm on a cropped sensor wasn't really cutting it. Wish I'd had my D750 and 24-70 mm
Comments always welcome.

Lately what I've been doing when trying to capture a wide scene and I only have the 50mm or longer lens is I go to manual mode and shoot a bunch of overlapping shots, Brenizer method, and then stitch them together in lightroom or photoshop. I've had a pretty good success rate with that method.

Nice evening shot by the way.
