No, my son was doing his maths as you say (he actually had all his electronics taken away from him at that particular moment, but earned his phone and watch back subsequently) and my daughter was trying to figure out Word. My picture taking was cut short because she had to go use my husband's PC (the horror). And I think I've only printed 2-3 flower macros ever, and this one was one of my first from probably 2009. Printing photos in general is on my to do list to fill up some wall space, but it's such a daunting project.
True story. Mrs AFB bought some nice photo frames and I hung them on the wall. Took about 5 years for me to print some images for them! Didn’t help they were all landscape orientation.

If I had frames I could do it, but we have a longish hallway in the front that is just begging for photos but it's such an overwhelming idea to fill a blank white wall. It's not cheap, either.

I can print at work as we have several wide format printers. But I’m generally too busy.

This used to be my favourite slide in the old amusement park, five stories high & I used to get airborne on this thing twice on the way down! Whilst in use, you used to be given hessian sacks that were lightly impregnated with an oil of some kind, making the slides super fast and almost frictionless. Face first with a slight run-up to get you going was my choice of experience for this one...

Gee thanks!! I need to not look at it or my OCD will kick in! If i fall off my chair because i am leaning into it then you are in bother my friend!
Aah, being a wee-Scotsman, it shouldn't be too far to the ground, it'll be but a small drop if it happens, Ken! ;)

This is an 8 second exposure of him spinning a piece of burning steel wool above his head. The steel wool was attached to the end of a string of blue led lights. I was quite surprised at the effect.
If you get a short 30cm / 12" dogs metal link choker chain, a cheap small metal whisk & something to fix the two together with, you are all set for this activity! Play with different brands of steel wool, including impregnated with soap ones, as you can get different colours once you set them alight!

Given your recent adventure Alex, you might be interested in the story of a US action theme park where:

"An enclosed water slide with a complete loop where customers ended up with bloody noses. A wheeled ride with no brakes that shot down a concrete-and-fiberglass track. A freshwater pool with giant waves that required lifeguards to rescue over two dozen people a day. New Jersey’s Action Park, which quickly became known as “Accident Park”, had it all. It was arguably America’s most dangerous water park."

"Action Park was finally closed in 1996. By then, the park was responsible for six fatalities, including three drownings in the Tidal Wave Pool and the death of a 27-year-old man who was electrocuted on the Kayak Experience when his boat tipped over and he came into contact with water that had a loose wire touching it."

Quoted from History.com - full story there.

And not to be outdone...this past year Hollywood released a feature (comedy - of course that leaves room for interpretation). The story is reportedly loosely based on that park.
That's hilarious! Up there with the Darwin Awards! I could just imagine the Jersey Boys all trying to outdo each other there with their thick Italian accents!

Very good.... ha ha... So in this post you talk about getting air, yet in the other you talk about it being shut down as dangerous.... lol... I bet this was fun... did you take a sack and have a go for old times’ sake while you were there?

Took a picture of the harvest moon from my front yard earlier to mark the start of the fall season. I hand-held this photo and as such the noise is a lot. I don't have a telephoto lens so no choice but to use a standard prime lens

Prime lens works here as it gives some surrounding context. With a tele you may have been limited to a gray moon on a black sky. So perfect example of work with what you have. Also, getting the shot with noise beats not getting a clean shot at all every time.... :)

Yeah, that GFX50R looks gorgeous!

And speaking of gorgeous things, I'd fondle the Leica M too! They're my all time favorite camera, at least in terms of design. And design is big for me, I like using beautiful objects to take photos. Given my love for black and white, I almost sold a bunch of gear a while back to buy a Leica M Monochrome. The allure of that camera is tremendous. I've always wished Fujifilm would make an X-Pro M monochrome camera. That'd be irresistible, and fit a little easier into my budget!

I am not the right person to ask about a Monochrom. They are simply gorgeous. You like them from a design perspective, I love them from a minimalist technical perspective. I seem to have a love of using traditional things like mechanical watches, fountain pens and rangefinders with no gimmicks.

That GFX50R is dangerous. It looks to be about the size of an X-Pro2 but with a medium format sensor!?!?! If the reviews are positive then Sony might have a contender on their hands.

Feel free to ignore me here but maybe consider a crop to remove the light post on the right and the bright distractions in the bottom.

Sorry about the short-person jab before, Ken, it was in jest, but just realised it may not have come off that way...

I was severely tempted to try and find one, but I suspect it wouldn't have worked, with all that rust on the surface.

It was shut down due to public liability being too expensive, not really because it was dangerous.

I used to have a ball here, there were the wet & dry slides, go-karting, archery, canoeing, a maze, some amusement rides, a pool, not exactly a theme park, but very enjoyable still.

??? no apology necessary.... I knew it was a joke... christ relax man, I take enough ribbing on here for you to know I am cool with a laugh - and I have known you long enough to know you wouldn't say something like that seriously.

Sounds like it was fun while it was open.

@Donka has let me know about a location of urban decay relatively near me so I will be checking that out soon.

Last time I was there , about 4 years back , there was this nitwit dancing around the top of the arch . Wouldn't come down . There were a bunch of folks waiting to got a shot of the arch and were getting more and more pissed . It was somewhat earlier in the A.M. and you could still get some slight reflection of light under the arch . Couple of people were making loud comments , which were ignored as the person who was the target didn't understand English . She finally came down . This time the crowd was MUCH more congenial , and everyone got the shots they wanted without any drama .

Southeastern Utah portion of the Colorado Plateau is perhaps my favorite place on the planet, if I had to choose.

I also had a similar shot of the harvest moon last night. I could either get the moon clearly, or the surroundings with a glowing orb for a moon. I’m not much of a night photographer.
