Lovely image. I like the high key lighting to add to the hot desert feeling of it. I like the highlight from the sun but maybe it is a little pink? Just slightly? Don’t know what it would look like if it were more golden.

Lovely subject matter.

If I were being super critical, I would suggest trying to capture the ladies at a point where the ridge doesn’t cut through them.

But this is being super critical. Lovely image.

Prime lens works here as it gives some surrounding context. With a tele you may have been limited to a gray moon on a black sky. So perfect example of work with what you have. Also, getting the shot with noise beats not getting a clean shot at all every time.... :)

Yes. I cannot leave the exposure longer as it will make the moon look like a bright orb that even post processing (without photo manipulation) won’t be able to recover. I had to settle with increased noise by adjusting exposure by almost 4 stops post process.

Feel free to ignore me here but maybe consider a crop to remove the light post on the right and the bright distractions in the bottom.

Thank you! That would make the shot look much more focused to the moon and the surroundings overall :)

This is beautiful

So it looks like my annual pilgrimage to Vegarse is back on this year in November. So I am planning to fly into San Francisco and then drive through Yosemite and Death Valley over three days to Vegas. Do my work thing then get the hell out of Dodge.

Any tips or suggestions on stop off point welcome. I am considering renting a motor home/small RV.

Thanks.

Thanks. I am really enjoying the new camera. I would have loved to take more time in this butterfly garden, but the kids were starting to wander off. Still ended up with a lot of good opportunities though.

Looking forward to some of that everyday.

Yes, I do realize I'm all over the place with my photography. That's okay, I find so many things interesting. Definitely more of a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy in so many ways in my life. :)
Nothing wrong with that.

Last one from Derbyshire - this Tortoiseshell butterfly was on a bush in the holiday cottage garden.
