I haven’t played for a while, but I’m trying to revive my photography hobby....

Oh, the luxury, we wished we had a hole to bathe in, we had to lick the road and roll around on that before heading off for the day and lick it again if we were hungry for dinner!
You had a road. Luxury. We had to get up before we went to bed, build the road, go to work and if we were lucky we were allowed to lick it when we got back.

My dad (in his early 70s now) grew up in a home that didn’t have a bathroom for part of his childhood. I still remember that house (my grandma live there into her 90s), as the bathroom was just added on to the side, I guess when water lines were finally run to that part of the county. Before that, they used an outhouse!

My Grandparents were the same. There entire house was heated by fires in every room and an aga in the front room to heat water. They didn’t get the electricity put on until my Dad was around 10.

They actually had a coal bin before propane tanks became a thing. They raised 8 kids in what was probably a 700-800 sq ft home. My grandpa was definitely a child of the Great Depression—the land was used to grow food to feed the family, and of what little they had, they kept it going as long as possible. He even had a shoe repair station in the basement that he used as another source of income. One of my favorite stories from the family was when they went on a family road trip, and the rear axle of the car gave way. Grandpa knew it was going to fail soon, so he had brought a spare axle with them and changed it out on the side of the road. Most folks would have just swapped it ahead of time, but he was going to use it till it was no longer useable!

My Grandparents turned every inch of their garden into a vegetable patch.
He worked on a farm. There was always a pheasant or similar hanging in the front room.

...I had to use dehydrated water and whale fat to clean-up!
