Nearly 24 hours of daylight by 20 June, and about the same amount of darkness in December :) The window shades at my home have an additional layer of a material that blocks the light. Because if going to bed by 10:00 PM in mid June, the sun is still "shining." But so many hours of darkness depresses a lot of people, specially those who stay indoors, or don't have hobbies (things like that).
Yeah, the near 24 hour of darkness would drive me insane! I've having a hard time now with losing daylight fast and sunset at 7:10pm now...lol. It's not the snow, cold that bugs me about winter, it's lack of sunlight.

Must find something that you can enjoy during those hours of darkness. My wife and I, plus our adult songs and daughters aren't affected by the darkness, but I do spend time outdoors during the winter months, mostly photographing the Auroras though March or so, plus taking photos of the local sled dog races, and so on. Believe it or not, some people jog and bike outdoors even at -20 degrees F. It's kind of interesting sometimes when they wear the stretchy and black color sports outfits, because perspiration from their...."butts" condensates on the outfit and outlines their rumps quite well. The "ones" of those riding bikes look like a white cushion between the seat and the "rump." I just hope not to offend anybody with my writing, since things like these are very normal or natural around here :)

In fact, when testing aircraft infrared systems, my coworkers and I would place one of us in front of the aircraft about 50 yards away. The display showed all areas of the body that were the warmest, which included the head and crotch among a few others. During the winter one loses a lot of body heat in the form of perspiration from the head and crutch.

Hammond Oregon. My brother was getting ready for the night ride gathering at the Recumbent bicycle event at Fort Stevens. He installed led rope lights on the front wheel spokes and flag pole of his trike. I took a walk with him to F-Loop sites where they were having a pre-gathering. One man had a recumbent bicycle that was fully enclosed in a polycarbonate shell - very nice. It looked like an experimental speed-test car that would be run on the desert salt flats.
