Lunch
Astoria Oregon. We drove to BowPickers (in the tow car), a land based wooden boat, for take-out Fish and Chips (better than Grizzly Tuna). Could not find a place to eat, all the few tables were taken. I found a stair case on the outside of a building and sat down to eat. My brother sat next to me, but he did not like the stair treads, they were steel with openings that had protuding surfaces (helped with slip resistance). He found a concrete stoop to sit on, I stayed on the stairs. As I was eating this very tasty meal, two men exited the building just in front of me dragging garbage bags, they were taking out the trash to the dumpster not too far away. As they did, one of the bags being dragged, leaked some slime - oh well. My Fish and Chips were great.
After our meals, we ventured to the Maritime Museum across the street. I needed to used the bathroom to pee; initially they would not let me in without paying for entrance to the museum ($16 each adult person) - no way! I gave my pleading face and was granted access to the facilities.
Along the outside of the museum we were able to see some of the exhibits through a wall of windows - thanks Freebies.
Docked across from the museum is the Columbia, a Lightship, commissioned 1951 -- decommissioned 1979. The black mast with the technology is the Coast Guard Cutter - Alert, docked next to the Columbia
