Worth getting up for.Intense early morning light on cottonwoods. Haze from all of the western fires off in the distance over the mountains. Yes, the sky really is that blue .

Beautiful. I hate it when you get a brilliant sky like that but you can’t find a composition.A rather spectacular sunset from September, 2006. Strangely this was facing east so perhaps the evening equivalent of Alpenglo? One of those very brief windows of opportunity, 30 seconds earlier or later and almost no colour.

Very nice!
I love the perspective on this. Looks like the birds could pluck up the humans as a snack.
One of them tried (well, it landed on my 6-year old daughter’s head and swiped her sandwich!)I love the perspective on this. Looks like the birds could pluck up the humans as a snack.
Agree with you. The photo is quite pleasant to look at; the birds are in focus, and so the people and things in the background (great DOF). There was another photo like that, except that instead of birds in the immediate foreground, it was a bunch of bubbles in focus, and people walking in the background. Again, great DOFI love the perspective on this. Looks like the birds could pluck up the humans as a snack.
Sky rats. We even get them here and I live hours from the sea.One of them tried (well, it landed on my 6-year old daughter’s head and swiped her sandwich!)

Ninja’d before I could even answer, but I was going to say, “Why eat a human, when you can just steal their lunch?”One of them tried (well, it landed on my 6-year old daughter’s head and swiped her sandwich!)
Gulls are always hungry
Incredible detail and lighting.
Thanks , sometimes you just get lucky ....Incredible detail and lighting.
I agree, great shot, especially at that shutter speed. Dual-IS for the win!
