Heres one i took tonight, got this idea out of my XTi Field Guide

this is not a photoshop effect, rather holding the shutter open and zooming out

^ Looks amazing. Just a shame you didn't take another pic properly exposing the grass, or that you didn't use an ND grad filter.

Your new genre is quite striking. I prefer it to the macro bugs, but you seem to master whichever style you experiment with. Are you doing this IR stuff with just a filter, or have you had the camera modified?

Thanks a lot. I do have a converted camera, but it didn't arrive in time for my trip, so it's sitting in a box, unused in Korea.
I found a place in Hong Kong, though that had IR filters (Tim Cheung in Tsim Sha Tsui), so I got a small one and old lens that is supposed to be a good one for IR. So far, pretty happy, but the long exposure times are limiting.
Here's a regular shot from this morning.

Thanks Pdxflint & Silverbird000

Macgfxdesigner Really nice shot, can't believe how clean the floor looks as well.
Squeeks I like your zoomed shot, really nice. The darkness at the bottom is fine I don't really think it suffers from not being exposed there.
Pdxflint Nice b&w shot.

M@lew Great shot .

Thanks... Yes, it was almost entirely HDR in the Photomatix editor. After that though I do usually perform minor adjustments in Photoshop such as curve tweaking and whatnot.

In other news, I love taking pictures of moving buses...
<snip photo>

I love this picture! I was wondering what you shutter and aperture setting were.

Woah. I haven't posted in this thread in so long. I have been so so busy!

Anyway, I haven't stopped taking pictures. Here's one from a dance performance at my school last week:

Camera: Nikon D70s, 18-70MM Nikkor.

Old ways...

A single tug tows a log raft upstream, north of Willamette Falls at Oregon City, as it heads for the locks to get around the falls. The locks, run by the US Army Corps. of Engineers, are located just to the right of the Simpson paper plant, and the old Smurfit newsprint plant is on the left. Fuji SuperG 400 35mm film, scanned with an old Nikon Coolscan III (remember SCSI??)

Steamie:Wow! Your Scottish (right?) landscapes are just gorgeous. Very moody and enchanting.
RoadieJoadie:Nice artsy use of high contast. I like the second one the best - reminds me of the U2 War album cover, as if it could have been an outtake.

brief note on thumbnails...

Silverbird0000, and others - if you don't want the mods to edit your reply posts to remove the images, try changing the image tags to make them thumbnails.

Actually, images are still loaded by the servers, we ask that you either make the image into a hyper link, or completely remove it.

Especially if you quote the post w/ the image in question, clicking the little blue arrow (this guy: [img]http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/buttons/viewpost.gif) takes you directly back to that post (where you can see the image).

Referring to my previous message: ....nevermind. :)
