My Sister, some stats:
Nikon D70
f4.5
1/40 second
100mm
on my (now broken :( I live right next to their SoCal repair facilities there is no excuse that it should remain that way) 55-200mm VR
It was technically taken on 7/15/2007, but I just edited it today.

This is a photo of the Eccles Olympic Legacy Bridge in Salt Lake City, Utah. It spans a road on the University of Utah campus and is the bridge the athletes of the 2002 winter games walked across on their way to and from the opening and closing ceremonies. Now their housing has been converted to Student apartments and that's where I'm living while I finish up school.

I didn't notice the highlights of the tip of the bridges tower when I took the shot. If I had, I would have metered against that part and avoided the blown out look it has, but the rest of the image I'm quite pleased with. Enjoy!

A winter's pour at the Horse Brass...

Incredibly fresh Pacific NW (Oregon and other parts) microbrews, like this newly tapped amber, are plentiful at the world famous Horse Brass Pub, Portland, OR. Just bring a few "quid" to get you through the night. Taken available light with a cheap Canon A95 at max ISO - 400.

Uhmmm... well, yeah, Bro! Ain't the end of the world. I actually like film grain and digital noise, depending on the subject and light conditions. Did you notice the camera I used? The Canon A95 maxxes out at 400 ISO, and it was a fairly dark place. I took a ton of other shots over several various months in a few other similar venues, and much preferred the "flash off" hand-held slow shutter speed effects - noise and all. It's much more about atmospherics in places like these, and I just tossed all the shots with flash - they looked flat and uninteresting. In the end, I'd rather use as much available light as I can muster, very high ISO (depending on the camera,) and let the noise/grain fall where it may in exchange for additional sharpness. You may differ with this philosophy, and prefer your digital pics to have the smoothness of plastic, but I don't think that would have served this picture.

It just makes me thirsty looking at it, and I swear I can smell the hops...:)

Oblomow: thanx for your appreciation of the pint...
Srf4real: Nice little barrel! Too bad the wave wasn't a bit taller. You should see the ones we got pounded with here on the Oregon coast last week. But as always, nice surf action work from you. Keep 'em coming!

Heres a picture I just took at Multnomah Falls in Oregon today. Comments are appreciated, just starting out.

They are both very nice, but I like your edited version more. No one should be embarrassed to fine tune their photos.

Here's a new one I just took tonight...

IMG_2882.jpg

... Kansas City, Missouri - a view of the West Bottoms, the old stockyards and warehouse district of Kansas City.

HDR from one RAW
Canon 5D with tripod mounted Canon 100-400 L @ 200mm
Shutter: 5 sec.
Aperture: f/5.0
ISO 100
Minor tweaks in Photoshop to desaturate and adjust curves.

I just love the deepness and richness of your pics!

Well I guess, If the ISO is so limited. I was just saying that it would be nicer without the noise, just one mans opinion...
