After snagging that link and looking at the original size that is amazingly noiseless

I've never pushed my 20D all that much, I don't get into such low-light situations like that where I wouldn't just use a lower ISO and a long shutter (on pod)....but like I said I'm not in that situation where I'd need that fast shutter.

nope, i did not do anything with that picture, took it with picture style portrait in jpeg mode though, there was no time for a raw workflow...
she was moving all the time and the cam was handheld, so i needed quite a fast shutter, hence the iso 1600. it was lighted for a panasonic dvx100ae, which performs beautifully in low light, so there wasnt much lighting power but a few 300 and 500w arri fresnels (normal tungsten lights in sturdy package)

For some reason smugmug seems to mess with color rendition for anything but the original version so I resized this shot to be a good size. it should look good for those of you with 1.8 or 2.2 gamma monitors.
Those of you who have followed this thread may remember i've posted a few shots from the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens, including a rather large iguana-type reptile. On my way out at closing time that day, I exited the conservatory building and suddenly saw a very colorful plant. The light was fading on what had become an overcast day already, my tripod was folded up, it was on the ramp on the way out, and the staff were ushering people out so I had to act quickly. Naturally the lens for the job was my 85mm PC Micro, which is tilt-shift, manual focus, and manual diaphragm. I didn't have a lot of light and there were people trying to get by me so I didn't have a chance to bump my ISO which would have been nice... so what I got was a wide open handheld shot, but it came out alright if you ask me.
