In retrospect I should have used fill-flash to counter the strong shadows on her face.

Lund Sweden {London England}
Ive only just started experimenting with photography. I took these shots bellow on the 23/02/07 in Lund Sweden. If people could give me feedback i would really appreciate it. Im not overly happy with them, feel like they could be sharper for one. But these are them anyway:

(Also does anyone know how i can view the exif data on my MBP? I usually only look at it on the camera, or once ive loaded a photo into photobucket to post online. Also, when i upload to photobucket it automatically makes the photos 600x800 when the originals are 3264x2448)

Canon 400D, 18-55mm with reversed 50mm f1.8
1/400, f8, ISO 100[/IMG]

With reversed 50mm f1.8? How do you do that? :) I have the same camera and the same lenses...

[edit]
I just found an example here:

Is this what you use as well? What is in between the 50mm and the 18-55 lens?

Yes that's what i did but without the adapter, i just handheld the 50mm reversed in front of the 18-55mm. You can do it with other lenses too but the lens on the camera must be of longer focal length than the reversed lens. And the longer the focal range the greatest the magnification.

For example by having a 100mm on the camera and a 50mm reversed gives you a 2:1 magnification (somebody correct me if i' am wrong).

The downside is that it's a bit inconvenient to hold it in place and also the focusing distance is about 1 cm, so you have to be really close to the subject.

You can also hold a reversed lens directly in front of the camera if you only have 1 lens but you loose aperture controls.

Try it it's fun!

Cool, I'm definately going to give that it a try :) I've also got a 70-300 Tamrom lens that has similar Macro capabilities (1:2). I guess I could use the 50mm with that lens as well and get (300/50) = 1:6 Macro? :p

[edit]
I just gave it a quick try and made a little comparison of my Tamron 70-300 and the 18-55 + 50mm reversed (inset). Don't look at sharpness and lighting (it's a dark day); just at the magnification :) The 50mm reverse setting has a much better magnification :)
[/edit]

Thanks for this though; I'm definately going to try this in more sunny conditions and shoot some bugs ;)

I looked over a wall, and saw this. My first thought was as titled above.
It wasn't until I got home that a stitched panorama occurred to me, hence the rough edges and incomplete coverage.
