Nice, i do like these shots that mainly B&W with the object in colour. Did you use layers in PS and then scrub out the bits you didnt need?

I sure do. First I create a hue/saturation layer and turn the saturation all the way down. Then I create a mask layer over that to bring the color back to the part I want. I use a mask instead of just erasing because it's a whole lot nicer when it comes to fixing any mistakes you make (you can just switch from black to white on your paintbrush, go over the same area again, and fix the part you've messed up). It's pretty easy in general, but doing it around blades of grass is a P.I.T.A. . . . especially using a trackpad. I should at least get a real mouse out for that sort of thing. Or perhaps think about getting a tablet now that I'm actually getting into PS.

This weekend i went to the NHRA Southern Nationals. That's drag racing for those that don't know. In a 7 hour period i took well over 1000 photos. I know....crazy. It was so much fun. It was hard but i picked a few to share over the next few days. This first is a '57 Chevy body, Pro Mod car. It has about 5000 horsepower. Quarter mile in 4,5,and 6 seconds. Let me know if you want to see more.

I was just watching something yesterday on the SPEED channel and noticed the rear tire torque.
Then you have a great picture to show how much the tire is not moving, but the wheel is. Nice picture!

Nah, just bored on a Sunday... :D Click the image for EXIF... Obviously on self timer, and some post effects/color adjustments in PS.

This is awesome. I've always want to photograph at a drag race and record how the tire warps over the rims. I just thats wicked.
There was an old Metallica(i think) video where they had all this slo-mo footage of the cars taking off.

vandi, did you have a press pass to get that close? and yes show more.

Dude, i wish i had a media pass. that would have been too cool. Nope, just a 70-300mm zoom. Well, i was on the fence at the start line for the tire wrap shot. I'm going to another event this weekend, and i will have crew member access. A guy i work with has a rail car and two stock/modified cameros.

This is Tony Pedregon's Quaker State funny car. He is doing his pre-run burnout. They all do this in order to heat up the tires, there is what is called 'liquid traction' sprayed on the track so that the tires grip more than they spin. A set of tires will last about 5-10 passes depending on track conditions. I had to clean my lens after just about every burnout because of all the rubber flying everywhere:D

Yeah, it's Metallica, and it's for the song called "Fuel".

One of my favourite videos.

Took this about a month ago at the local marina (by marina, of course, I mean the old mine shaft that they decided to fill with water, and then build condos all around  )
