A shot from our hike last weekend. We spend over an hour on this spot just chilling and listening to the water flowing. Trippy stuff! :)

Bug Hug II

Bug-Hug-3.jpg

May 17, 2007.
Mt Yongji, South Korea
Canon A640

These are the same bugs as in the photo I posted last week, from a different angle (so the reds show more) and cropped a little tighter.

Thanks for the feedback, xfiftyfour, Jelaboo, and Martin C. I think the colored version is starting to grow on me but I will do as suggested and muck around with the b&w version a bit in Photoshop to see if I can get it to look better with some increased contrast.

baby duck monge: I love the colors.

seenew: Awesome concept. I think you executed this well.

freebooter: Nice macro shot. There's so much detail in that shot.

Anyways, here is today's.

I am kicking myself for not taking my 70-200 with me on the day that I shot this.

Wow! What a great place. Any chance I could talk you into PMing me a high res version? I'd love to use it as a desktop.

I figured I'd try to desaturate this since there weren't any interesting colors in the original shot and the main focus was the shadows and different textures of the wall. But which one do you guys think is better? Thoughts?
I like the colour version personally. I know almost nothing about photography but I know what I like to see.

I tried the Orton technique , nifty trick there! Here's an attempt at it. No reason why I chose this photo, just the newest one in iPhoto. Probably could have found a better one.

Ortonized2.jpg

don't know about the exif data. taken on auto mode from a 350D and "ortonized" in photoshop.

edit: ortonized some other photos - will have to wait till tomorrow to post them though. darn. :p

Some really awesome shots lately!

Sadly, I have not gotten a chance to post any of mine as of late. With school just finishing up, within the next couple weeks I will hopefully be back to posting daily.

terriyaki, the colors in that shot are absolutely beautiful! I'm tempted to say it'd look great as a desktop.

I'm eager to try this "Orton technique," as the results come out pretty cool.

Worcester, MA. Public School's new Stadium Groundbreaking Ceremony. Taken today. Clearly, the man on the end was anticipating my shot, while the mayor (in the blue) looks a bit bored. :p

Smallest Grasshopper

smallest-grasshopper-II.jpg

May 22, 2007.
Daegu, South Korea
Canon A640
Canon 250D close-up filter + digital zoom

This grasshopper was extremely small. I could have fit at least ten on the nail of my little finger. I used a close up filter and digital zoom to get much more than 1:1 macro ratio. My water bottle served as a brace.

Shot from a bridge, trying to keep the camera steady on the railing.
Didn't bring a tripod since it was a 5 day hiking trip.
Sweden, near Nykoping. 25 march 2007
