freebooter: I know the feeling, I went looking for bees, but only found damsel flies (a gazillion of them in fact) :)

You're funny. ;)

I think Chris was referring to this thread, where there was a large sentiment that the dragan effect was really not "photography." It's a nice use of it for your picture, but just thought I might let you know where that came from.

Here's one from last night:
Rays
Canon 5D
24-70L @ 70mm
f/2.8
1/100

The campfire smoke made the sun's rays really come through at dusk.

A picture of my puppy, Bella, taken in my backyard sometime on march 29th, 2007. The original picture is a lot more sharp (it was downsized and compressed on the go in iphoto [yes, i was too lazy to open photoshop]...) I added the vignette and did some minor color alterations.

as for the meta data:
Canon EOS 5D
Shutter: 1/100
ISO: 50
Aperture: f 2.8
51mm focal length
Manual exposure

not sure of shutter speed, I changed it alot to compensate for the sky, I took several pictures of them and the rest of their family.

I've noticed in a few of your shots you don't remember shutter speed. Flickr keeps the EXIF data of all of your photos, unless you choose to hide it, and Aperture and Photoshop certainly give access to the EXIF. Maybe in future check the hard data instead of just trying to remember?

EpicWelshman-- I do not use either photoshop or aperture. I use gimp on my PC but have not had time to put a similar program on my mac yet, I think there is a mac version and I had not decided whether it or gimp would be better, so I have loaded neither. Furthermore, I do not know how to find exif data in either of those programs, as most of my photo experience is with 35mm film.

However, I did not know Flickr had this data and could/would show it to me. It took me a while but I found the page where it shows this, and in the future I will look there when I cannot remember. Thanks for the tip!

I don't know if I did or not, but I didn't mean to come off as rude or condescending. But anyway, Flickr has a surprising amount of EXIF data available, and it comes in very handy!
