This is a front view of the same kind of bug I depicted in "Point of Departure," posted a few days ago.

Moth and Wasp

Taken whilst I was on holiday in Fiji a couple of weeks ago. I'm starting to itch for a good macro lens; I took the 100-400mm with me, and every shot I took with it (this one included) was a quasi-macro.

Church, New York City, April 2007:

Camera: Nikon D70s

I absolutely love the colors in this one.

Nice shot. I like good church shots. sometimes real hard to get anything useful because of the low lighting.

I'll post one of my own. Some of you Mass people might recognize it. It's a church on Newbury St, Boston. Maybe most famous for being a location in the movie Boondock Saints.

Never been inside it, but I walked by it just last weekend.

I'm really itchin' for a nice prime for low-light conditions like this.... Still looking for a used 50 for my D70s.

Jeez, I have not posted in far too long.

Freebooter - point of departure is great, not just because of the colors and composition, but it is a clean shot as well, not too many effects.

srf4real - nice pics of the shuttle launch

Lots of great shots recently!

First shot with my new 35mm macro. It was getting dark, and I had to bump the ISO up, but I don't think it takes too much away from this shot. Going to be a fun time coming up. I had been working with just the kit 14-45, but this week I added both a 40-150 and the 35mm macro.

Been toying with single exposure HDR's, here's one of my older shots; thought it turned out OK.

These HDR shots really interest me, but i've never done it before.
i know you take a bracketed shot (under, normal, and over) but i don't know how i'd go about combining these images...

also what's the difference between single exposure and regular HDR's?

any advice?

You can combine them with PS, but most people use Photomatrix. This is a good place to start, though. It's a tutorial for multi, and single exposure HDR's.

Excellent site! thanks for that one.
Photomatrix looks good too, i'll give it a go and post the results!

Yeah...fast primes are nice. i broke the bank for the 18-200 vr, so no new lenses for a long long time. the 18-200 should be fine for 99 percent of anything i want to do anyways. the VR helps a lot in low light, but if you want to take indoor candids, you need that fast shutter speed.

Here's a shot from a friend's apartment in flushing, ny. his view is amazing.
