That girl is probably the only small child that I don't mind. Kids usually make me go "eek!"

Picture from my trip to Minneapolis, inside the downtown shopping center.

Taken with my new Nikon D40 :)

One from my way too distant (now) vacation. Western Greys I believe.

I'm glad most people here are Mac users, because most of these got processed way too dark for a PC Gamma, and I've not got around to going back through them yet.

Thanks for the comments -- I've been experimenting and pushing out of my comfort zone lately. This and Flickr are a great way to see what people respond too, and with all the great photographers on this forum it is kind of intimidating to decide to join in!

I cropped this one alot, cutting away a good 7/8ths. I was quite pleased with how much detail the D40 can capture, even at iso 400.

Man, freebooter, you're really selling me on the D40...:p Is there anything about it you don't like? Your shots are always colorful and crisp!

Thanks!
I really like the D40, overall. I just love how small it is and how well thought-out the controls are. It has quite low noise and is a pretty fast shooter, for an amateur's camera. The price is great, too.
What don't I like about it?
-sometimes I could wish for more megapixels so I could retain a greater level of detail when I crop and perhaps make the images more saleable (someday/potentially)
-I found the jpegs produced at default settings to be too warm sometimes, so now I leave it on RAW/sunlight white balance then, at present, I develop the RAW in Capture NX and export the tiff to Photoshop for adjustments, sizing etc.

It's not so much the camera, but the lens that gives that quality. The camera does help a bit of course though ;)

Amazing picture though Freebooter, that Macro lens makes some beauties.

Alachua Fireworks show, where they had tonnes of booths set up beforehand, and some guys ddoing bmx stuff on a tennis court. The guy is standing on a 6 foot tall box with quarter pipes on each end, another 8 foot tall quarter was set up across from the box, behind the rider.

Nice shot - I got some of the same kind of Lilly on the Fourth. Maybe it will be today's picture from me... Also, nice avatar! Us camera 'tar people should start a club!

Or maybe not. I just got some good shots this evening of the New England Summer Nationals going on here in Worcester, MA. Yay burning rubber! :)

Now, well, rather later today, I will sort these 324 pictures.

I think we should start a club.

I'm really happy with this picture. It's one of the clearest I've taken with my camera. I can't wait to get my D80. I'll have ALOT of fun with it.

EDIT: and we should start a iMac G4 users club.
