I feel really cliche, posting pictures of fireworks....but....
First of all, I put my life in danger to get these! I sat for over an hour, less than 6 feet from a local lake, Lake Alice, on UF campus. It is well known becuase atleast once a year, an alligator eats a dog there. Moreover, the first time I set up to shoot, a 5 foot gator came out of the lake and walked right up to me! I've never moved my tripod faster!!! Fortunately, a 5 foot gator is actually pretty much a juvenile and we scared it off. But then I sat, in the dark, for 45 minutes, focused on pictures and praying no alligators showed up....
Secondly, I am darn proud of some of my pictures! I tried to pick the best, but there are two or three I love, and for my first time ever shooting fireworks, learning on-the-fly, I think I did a decent job.
As you can see, cloudy night, and smoke was drifting. The cloudiness you see on the right is a mixture of the two.

not sure on aperture, Exif doesn't tell on MF lenses. I was changing it without looking, but I suspect it was 8 or 11, possibly 5.6

Gainesville, Fl annual July 3rd fireworks show, July 3rd, 2007.
About midway through the 15 minute show.
Yes, their fireworks are a day early. Used to be some other city event on the 4th, so the fireworks were done on the 3rd. Now the city sponsors the fireworks instead of the other event, but it's been on the third forever, so to keep with tradition, it is still on the third. Also, it keeps me free to see other town's shows on the 4th.
