This was on of my trips to Anchorage from Fairbanks, Alaska, where I used to live in 2003, as opposed to me living in Missouri at the moment. Shown is Mt. McKinley, which we were lucky, because usually the peak is covered in thick clouds. It was beautiful. Sorry- it's a bit fuzzy:( .

Looking up at the sky in my friends backyard in Portland.

OK, I'm not trying to be difficulyt here :) , but if everyone could please use the format at the beginning of the thread. It's the place and exact date (even if it wasn't today) that gives some additional interest to the photo.

So please let us know the date, city/state or city/country.

So Peace's beautiful picture would be (if taken today):

Backyard Trees. Portland, OR 5/28/06.

If you want to share the EXIF, please use the following (just leaving out what you don't know).

Camera: Canon EOS 20D
ISO: 400
Focal Length: 220mm
Shutter/Aperture: 1/1000 @ f11
Lens: EF 100-400L f4.5-5.6 IS USM

He's great, Clix.

We were waiting to see a movie last night and the drainage pond behind the theater was filled with these guys singing along. :)

I'd love to go to Alaska for an entire summer.
It wasn't just for a summer... I was born in Fairbanks on December 27th, 1990, when it was -40 degrees. That picture was from one of my very many trips south to Anchorage, but it was on that day that McKinley was so perfect. I lived in Fairbanks from the day I was born all the way up until the summer of 2004, when I moved to Missouri. It really is so beautiful up there, and if you do go, don't go on tours with a whole bunch of other people. Instead, rent a car, and just drive until days end. Stop in at small shops, pubs, etc., ask the locals where some cool stuff is, and drive some more. The best way to enjoy the great Alaskan outdoors is to go into your own world and to do so with no time limit. Grr! Just thinking of Alaska has made me look on Expedia for ticket prices...:p

Nice eyes indeed! :) Excellent sharpness. Shame about the nose shadow though - from the flash I assume?

Today's offering: Tree-lined avenue at University of Nottingham, Sutton Bonington Campus; near Loughborough, UK; summer 2003. Nikon Coolpix 4500; Hoya R72 infra-red filter, toned in Photoshop.

Thanks, Gary! Yep, ours are in full swing now, too. I was just out walking around on the boardwalk and a couple of them were tuning up for the evening's songfest....

Edited to add: just came back in the house after a delightful couple of hours enjoying Frogsong!

Call me stupid, but how do you post a full size picture without getting the 'Attached thumbnails' thing on the bottom?

You have to have it already hosted somewhere on the internet. To put it in this thread, just put the url to it inside of these tags...

Delete the spaces before submitting the post.

Just be careful that your photo isn't TOO wide, or else it throws the thread off for some viewers (making them scroll horizontally). I like to keep a maximum photo width of around 600.

I dislike hosting images for photo threads like this. The reason is that the image can be lost if you change servers, or delete the image from your host.

Also Gary, is more than one pic from a day OK in this thread? Been spending the evening editing the pics that I took at Rolling Thunder today. Took some where around 250 images. So far I have come up with 9 keepers. Still only 3/4 way through. Don't worry, I am thinking of only two or three. :D

Not my forum, but I thought that people would come visit the thread more often if they knew that new images would be posted everyday. If you limit it to one, people are more likely to keep posting than to "blow their wad" as it were and post a bunch of pics an never post again. People will also come back to look and see what their "favorites" post each day, too.

Wouldn't bother me either way, bud. :)
