Time honored and reborn.
The pilsner style Diamond State Lager beer has its origins in a recipe first brewed by Joseph Stoeckle at his Wilmington saloon in 1858. Stoeckle began brewing his famous Extra Fine pilsner on a larger scale in 1872, when he became associated with a brewery across town called the Diamond State brewery. After Prohibition, in 1936, a new company re-opened the brewery and began producing Diamond State Lager Beer based on Stoeckle’s original recipe. The beer disappeared seemingly forever, when the Diamond State Brewery, Inc. went out of business in 1954.
Though the original Diamond State Lager Beer recipe has been lost to history, Blue Earl Brewing Company has taken great care in reproducing a 100% all grain pilsner, true to the old Stoeckle way. “A Famous Brew Since ‘72 – Diamond State Lager Beer is back after a 66 year hiatus! Prost!
