On tonight's menu...

*GROAN*

I went to a wedding where that was the 'best beer' on the menu at the reception. Honestly. I don't know who thought that was a great idea. Yes, they were the liter bottles too! As the assembled mass got more and more inebriated, how clothing didn't become optional, I have no idea... I think the only saving moment in the whole mess was there was another reception going on at the other end of the conference center complex, and they hired a local band 'that tried real hard', and was rocking on all cylinders that night. That an inebriated band of bored wedding guests descending on another reception is a testament to the small size of that second reception, the size of the room they played in, and the good natured attitude of that bride and groom. (Their food line had long ended, so it wasn't that rude and potentially maddening) They were endlessly toasted by the intruders through the night. (Oops)

Many people were late for the morning breakfast planned to send the newly betrothed off to an exotic honeymoon. I think I had at least 2, and parts of possible 2 more. It was 'an interesting night'... I have a new respect for DT's...

EDIT: The rest of the story: Some felt bad about crashing their reception entertainment, and got everyone to contribute something to help offset our invasion, and presented it to the parents. Rumor had it they had over $2,000! It went a long way to offset the intrusion. DT can bring out the worst, and best in people...

In moderation. I love the stuff, but it's hard to come by here for the past year or so. There are a lot of micro brews around here, so I wonder if it's a plot to get us to buy more of their beers. I'm good I guess...

I used to se Flying Dog beers around here all the time. I haven't seen them anywhere around in a while now.

Me too. Several breweries are gone. Petes Wicked, Magic Hat, Sam Adams East Coast IPA, etc...

Petes ahs been gone for YEARS. Magic Hat for the last 2 or so, and Sam Adams ECIPA was around 2 years ago, but largely disappeared. I miss Magic Hat's Electric Peel... *shrug* (I heard Magic Hat had management issues, and ceased operations?)

Flying Dog has something called Triple Dog (18.4% ABV) that I just might have to go and pick up.

In olden days, hops was considered a cure-all, and many churches in Europe, and the new colonies, brewed their own hop concoctions. It was used for curing colds and sinus congestion, among other maladies. It really does help with my head congestion, works better than Mucinex, plus just makes me feel better. Bumper sticker at a brewery: 'Beer is proof that god loves us'. Can't argue with that...
