Living in Belgium I can drink in places like this almost every day. Last time I checked, there are over 1000 varieties of beer to choose from in this naughty little (33 000Sq Km) country. And yes, a lot of them are not for the faint of heart.

I'm up for the challenge. I've only met one brew that I didn't like (that wasn't domestic). It was, um, really overly *somethinged*, and it almost burned on the way down. It was thick, and just, wow... I finished it, but it sat like a Guinness. A Guinness with a very bad attitude. It was in the Caribbean, and I think it was an import from Europe. I have never seen it again. Other than that, the hoppier the better!

You must look for Duvel Tripel Hop. It's just...yummy!

I’m a sucker for the hazy IPA’s. It’s pretty dang good though I must say. Super fruity without too much bite. Very dry just like they advertised. I score it an 8/10.

So they weren't kidding? I loved the Magic Hat 'Electric Peel', but I haven't seen it in years. I had a really big love for the 'Tropical Torpedo' from Sierra Nevada, and I haven't seen that in years too. *pout*

Belgium....sigh; a country that I consider to approach beer heaven.

Save your breath Scepticalscribe, as -apart from its beer- Belgium is a $h*thole (yes, I too live there).

Well, - apart from the sublime beer (the quality and the range), there are also some terrific restaurants (French culinary standards, but German sized portions is what my memory reminds me was available), not to mention some Belgian culinary classics, and some extraordinary history (Bruges and Ghent are both spectacular).

Above all, there is the location, along with excellent transport and transport links: You can easily reach a lot of places in northern Europe for a nice week-end away if based in Belgium/Brussels.
