This was a surprisingly good IPA. Not Spectacular, but still very good. Not to hoppy like a typical West Coast IPA. Definitely some piney and citrus notes, and went down smooth.

How do you like the beer?

Personally, I love the Belgian classics.

Is that a Delirium Tremens chalice that you are serving it in?

Now, I can tell that the coaster certainly is - as I recognise it.

I love it. To me it is second only to Duvel as far as Belgian Strong pale Ales go. I can drink a 750ml bottle to myself no problem (of either) hah!

It wasn't a Delirium Tremens glass, I actually forgot what was on there (we were at a bar).

As I recall, the Deliriums Tremens glass features those little pink elephants that were on your coaster, etched somewhere just below the rim.

Have you tried the St Bernardus or the Trappistes Rochefort ranges? Each of them have strong ales, which would be doubles, or triples, whereas their stouts would be classed as quadrupels.

Maredsous (another superb Belgian beer, which I recommend heartily) could also be seen as a strong pale ale.

Enjoy it, anyway.

Trappist ales, I believe these all fall under that realm, are the best.

I have had Trappistes Rochefort. I love the 8 & the 10. I probably have photos of them in this thread somewhere, haha. I have also tried many from St. Bernardus. The ABT 12 (Quadrupel) & the Tripel! They are wonderful. As someone that lives on the west coast of the U.S. my go to beers are often IPAs or Imperial IPAs, but I absolutely love Belgian beer and am thankful I can readily get them at our local craft beer stores here.

Yes, agreed, superb.

They are the best, aren't they?

Agreed.

Tonight, I have been visiting Belgium, in my beer glass, if not in reality.

My first beer was the wonderful Maredsous (strongly recommended) while my second is the McChouffe - one of the wonderful beers - the brown ale - from the excellent Brasserie D'Achouffe. (Check out their labels for some of the most attractive labels on the planet).
