My son built his fixed gear.

Turned out pretty nice. He likes the colors :)

My current build. The pink sticky note is to remind me of the spoke count for when I re-lace my rear wheel. Just waiting on the Miche track hub to arrive :)

When you do, take off that spoke protector. :) Also, wasn't this pretty much your build a while ago? Why has there been no progress? The steer tube is still uncut, too! Tut tut. :p

I hope you don't intend on keeping your saddle angle like that!

I am trying to track down parts first. No pun intended. Missing my Miche crank and nitto b123 bars. Once those arrive then the steer tube will be cut and all the parts will be put on! As for that spoke protector.. Gotta love craigslist wheel sets huh? The previous owner had that on there. When I get my miche hubs, I will for sure take that off!

Yeah the seat is just on there for now. When all is finished, adjustments will be made of course ;)

Sweet Pete's Bike Shop - Trek 6000

My early self-Birthday Present to myself - and to my son. Although this long weekend I'm pretty much flat broke (bills/grocery/rent/laundry quid etc already taken care of); instead of going up north to party this was SO worth it! I got to take my son bike riding - something I REALLY enjoyed doing with my father growing up (hated being left behind to walk up hills; but it pushed me to improve and stay in shape then).

Instead of getting drunk for my birthday (maybe a brew or 2 in the sun) I figured taken my son bike riding - both of us for getting in shape and BIG FUN - was much better.

I don't regret it at all.

Quality service, quality bike, quality shop ... looking forward to continue shopping there again.

Pictures: First is of my bike. Second is of a snake my son & I almost rode over and I'm a bit shocked because its tail was vibrating when we approached it - no sound but i swear its a rattlesnake. [bummed out as I did record it and it did NOT save on my Bold 9700 :(]

Jumping on the fixed/road pair bandwagon, here are mine. I have the fixed-gear set up to more closely match the road bike. I left the brakes on because I take it on some hilly rides, and do not want to use my cartilage to stop myself...

I now ride to work every day, which is a nice change.

^ Where you at Sweet Pete's on Bloor St West earlier today?! I think I saw you and your bike right up against the booth - something about your wheels I think.

Hey Prom1,

Yep that was me. I burst a tube on the way over there. I burst another one on the way home. Wasn't fun. Luckily I ran into a silent ride group and a gentleman was nice enough to give me a tube he had.

Were you the tall black dude waiting for his bike to be prepped? I imagine so since I recognise the Knog Frogs you got.

phiberglass: i absolutely LOVE your BMC. anything made by BMC is absolutely drool-worthy. nice fixed as well; is it a kilo TT?

gotzero: nice cannondales! i saw a capo at sporting life the other day; i love the way they shave down the welds to make them look super smooth. the rides between your two bikes must be awfully similar; i hear the capo is just a caad5 frame with track ends.

I am glad someone took care of you! I went on our local ride of silence last night with a friend (he and I have both been hit by cars, but thankfully are both just fine). I keep a ton of tubes with me when I go on longer rides now, I find that more often than not if you had one pop, the second probably ran over the same thing...

It is a CAAD5 track frame, I am really happy with them both. As someone who has dabbled in welding, I am blown away by the Cannondale frames. The guys in PA do a really great job, and it is really too bad that the factory is shifting. I got the CAAD9 instead of their softer road frame partially because it is made in PA, oh well.

I am really getting the biking bug, and if I get to a point where the bikes are holding me back, I will probably go off of the deep end.

It's a 183rd street frameset. I got a smoking deal on it at a local fixed shop. It's a great frame and I love the geometry, but I don't like the sloping top tube, at least I don't see it while I'm riding. I never got around to powder coating it, probably sometime this summer.

Gorgeous bike! What frame is that?

Beautiful bike, craigmoyer. I have the same bars though, and I hate them. Haha. The drop just isn't practical for me. I want the Profile Designs Cobra Wing badly. Too bad they're pricey as all hell.

I haven't really used too many other bullhorns besides the 21's but I know Syntace makes several iterations of their bullhorns with several different degrees of drop.

The profiles are nice, not enough length on them for me though, would be good for a tri/tt bike with some aero bars. I had a set of Syntace bars before my RB21s on the bike above and wasn't a big fan. They flexed real easily, where the nittos are pretty stiff. I forgot which bars/measurements they were though.

It's a Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake, quite an impressive sight considering they're quite rare.
