Up the Brecon Beacons. Decent climbing up there. Beautiful 30kph headwind going up half of them too - which was, of course welcomed with open arms.

Just got this last week. Setup as a single speed for in town riding. Been living it so far, even with hills kicking my butt riding home from work with a 25 pound pack.

I recently did a TON of research and purchased a 2013 TREK 7.2 MATTE Black with red detail, costing me $550.

Love it, i bike nyc and it's perfect for 40+ mile bike rides.

it's a hybrid bike.

Something old, something new (to me at least). '02 kona lava dome seeing some action in the San Juans this weekend, and my recently acquired '81 univega sportour getting some love.

How's that old Japanese steel ride?

It's kinda racy for you most assuredly for me.
Its sweet, the gears and brake levers were swapped out more recently so it feels kinda newer than it is in spite of those down low friction shifters. Good ride, definitely a racer though I'm not a speeder. Still getting used to drop bars. A little freaky down Seattle hills, real nice going up compared to the 40 lbs, 7 and 8 speed publics I've spent so much time on. I'm trying to figure out how to fit fenders on it presently.

Once you get the hang of drop bars you'll never go back! There are just to many hand positions available.

There are both metal and plastic fenders for your bike I'd stick with plastic and removable. You don't need this to be your all weather bike you need something just in case it rains.

 Silly amounts of fun.

Grabbed this old Schwinn for a song this afternoon. It needed a little love and some new cables but otherwise in very nice shape. The old three speed hub is neat. It's going to get done up something else in the paint job soon..

My "rails to trails" bike.

Street bike. I've changed the seat out for a Fizik and upgraded to Ultegra Di2 Electronic shifting.

Do you ride the GAP trail? More specifically the newer part near Costco?

I was actually just coming in here to ask some of these knowledgeable folks about the legality of stop signs on bike trails and whether they can actually be enforced by giving a ticket.

I don't ride down that way too often anymore because of the stop signs and the blatant disregard for pedestrians and bikers by the drivers. I've actually stopped at the stop signs and the cars still just do what they want and act like no one else travels any other way. I can't even count how many times i've nearly been hit by a driver who simply didn't look to the right, because he/she was making a right hand turn.

No I haven't ridden that part of the GAP Trail, I mostly ride on the Montour Trail. As to your point. I heard a news story recently that police were ticketing bikers who were going through stop signs at the Riverfront. They need to ticket the CARS that ignore the bikers.

Ohh, i've only been on the Montour trail a few times. I tend to stay around the Downtown area with the Jail Trail and Three Rivers Heritage trails and I ride along the North Shore and the point and cross the bridges a lot.

I did see a sign yesterday for the Tour the Montour on the 21st of this month. I'll probably do the 44 unless I go with friends who don't ride much, then we'll probably do the 22 at a slow pace.

Yeah, they were ticketing bikers even when cars weren't coming anywhere. They were recording people riding down there and counting how many people stopped at the stop signs then pulled the ones over who didn't stop and asked them why they didn't stop, etc.

I found it hilarious when someone was making a left hand turn across a double yellow line to go in one of the entrances and the biker didn't stop at the stop sign and HE'S the one who got into trouble.. not the person driving the car. Pretty sure that's a legitimate traffic violation.

It's really frustrating. I know it's for the safety of the bikers, but enforcing the traffic laws as well would be even more safe.

Sorry for the long post, I am a nerd and think it's cool that you live near me, haha

Ya I saw the bit on the news about it. Legal or not I too drift through a stop sign on a trail that crosses a road if I look and see no cars coming. Is it even legal to ticket a bicyclist? I mean do I get points on my license for that? Crazy.

I think they stopped ticketing and just started warning after people questioned the legality of it. They are just issuing warnings until they investigate it.

It doesn't give you points against your license.
