I'm pretty sure that car is just a Vauxel Astra, we have them here; Holden Astra.

it isn't the Astra. This is the Astra.

The Aura is a Vectra'ized Pontiac G6 which then the Aura spun off into the new Malibu.

The Vectra is on the short wheelbase of Epsilon I. The Aura is on the long wheel base of EPI and really is not in any way related to the Vectra besides the front end.

looks pretty good

until recently all the sharp looking 'American' models seemed to be sold everywhere in the world EXCEPT the US

example: the Ford Mondeo ........ what the Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique should have been all along. Instead they became the Detour/Mistake

It's a Vauxhall! LOL... The only good looking car that they are making (that is Vauxhall..) is the Insignia... Oh... and the VXR8.. But still... they are really all the same ;)

Which is really an Opel. :p The Insignia replaces the Vectra.

And I quite like the new Astra.

You're lucky... LA is the only large city in which you still NEED a car because the city areas are too spread out and we don't have adequate public transportation.

LA IS NOT A REAL CITY......there is a requirement of more then 20 buildings over 15 stories

I was parked next to an Insignia a few days ago... Looking at the interior... it could have been a Volvo or a Mercedes... It really did look professional... I really do think that Vauxhall (Or whoever you think they are) are really trying with their cars now... Apart from the fact that it's a Vauxhall, a really wouldn't mind my Parents having one! (But I still prefer the XC60!)

2002 Audi S4 laser red avant. Rumor is there are less than 30 in the United States. Only took me a few years to find the right one.

I had the cargo carrier painted to match the car.

6 speed/AWD/V6/Bi-turbo

Whatever you've got in that cargo carrier of yours must be REALLY heavy!
:D

Haha. That is funny. I have adjustable suspension. I couldn't adjust it bc I didn't have the propper wrenches. Here is what it looks like now.

That car was miserable to drive like that.

Quick shot of my new love, moved up from an 07 gti. It's a work in progress but I've only had it for about 3 weeks.

Mods: Flapper mod, Evoms intake, GIAC ecu flash, and some other little cosmetic bits.

"Hi, thank you for calling the Volkswagen service department. How may I help you?"

Be prepared to hear that phrase A LOT. A friend of mine made almost the same move as you. He went from a Jetta GLI to a R32 about a year ago. The R32 is a fantastic car.... when it is running. The thing has been nothing but an endless stream of problems. Recalls, trans issues, NAV problems, wheel bearings.... the list could go on for days.

Maybe he got a lemon, who knows. But, he follows the VW scene pretty closely, and tells me that his case, while a bit extreme, isn't out of the ordinary for MKV R32s. Hopefully you will have better luck. I wish you the best.

How about a video of your car? This is my car ('02 Hyundai Elantra GT) accelerating from about 55 mph to 88 mph in 3rd gear. Only mod is a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. Everything else is stock. Almost 93k miles.

Here.

Holy hell is that think tied to a dead cow?

:D

I knew I'd get replies like that. It's actually the quickest car I've owned. VERY reliable and of great quality. If you think that's bad, then try owning a 2001 base model Chevy Cavalier, which I did for over 2 years. Slow.

I never said it was a speed demon, but it's damn good for an economy car that gets a consistent 29 mpg.

Is 29mpg considered good and economical in the US?!

Didn't all Audi S models have brushed alu wing mirrors in that time? Also, where did the audi logos go on the Avus wheels? Knock-off?

You can faintly see the Audi logo on the wheels if you zoom in. At least I can on my monitor. Also I believe that color matched mirrors were standard on the b5 versus the brushed alum which were standard on the b6.
