Ouch. Lucky me, new Indiana laws went into effect one week before I got my license that prevents me from carrying anyone under the age of 21 in the car for 6 months, and I can't drive between the hours of 10PM-5AM until I'm 18. Grand.

It is like that in almost every state now. In Texas you can get a permit right when you turn 15; however, you must hold the permit for 6 months before you can get your license, in theory you can get your license on the day you turn 16 though. After that, there are restrictions on when you can drive, the exceptions are for work and school related events and seriously if you aren't out speeding, joy riding, disturbing the peace, etc than it really doesn't matter. I am 21 now but those were the rules when I got my license. I never technically followed the law but I also didn't get stopped during those hours and if I did there are 100 ways to get out of getting in trouble over it (assuming you weren't doing anything too dumb).

None the less, I will avoid turning this into a PRSI thread by getting into too much of my thoughts. Only to say, enjoy having your wheels, it is a great change to have some more freedom and to go places. Lucky that you were able to get a car, treat it well and it will last you a long time.

Raising funds at the moment though.

I someday would love to have a well sorted 1300 Junior. Although, if I become extraordinarily wealthy, a nice 1300 GTA Junior would be a very nice addition to the Car collection that I am planning

Which Year/Model are you going for? The Alfa Twin-Cam is one of my favorite engines (Behind the 3.4XK and the Lotus Twin-Cam), and if you get it sorted it is one of the nicest engines to have been ever made.

Just watch out for leaking oil (All Twin-Cams are culprits) and also make sure the gearbox is a clean shift, it's *very* dear if it needs replacing/reconditioning.

I do seem to remember a company that is rebuilding and preparing the cars for Race purposes, but if your not going that far  then I believe they also make some very high quality parts for the cars!

Oh, and don't skimp. Alfas are cars that if you invest, god you get back. If you don't, well, don't even bother.

[Edit] Just found this. Jan Steutel a well renound Alfa specialist from Holland has made an Amazing replica of the 1600GTA. Just listen to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tuMoWwWnyY&feature=related - Also this on his website - http://www.steutel.com/projects/gta/ - Oh so very jealous. [/Edit]

1300 Junior probably, wouldn't mind a 1600 though. Will most likely end up being a joint thing between me and my dad, he wants to replace his SL I think and it's too expensive for me to insure alone as I'm only 19. Classic policies aren't too bad though.

We nearly went to have a look at this one but chickened out:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1976-ALFA-ROM...s_UK?hash=item3ca43ee7b7&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Not a fan of non-originals and replicas, nice sound from the Dutch one though.

Alfaholics might be who you're thinking of? They have alot of parts.

This is a very nice noise..

Yep, it was Alfaholics.

Check out some of the cars on Car and Classic. They have a really nice selection if you haven't looked already. Also, Piston Heads, but they don't really have as many.

I don't really like non-originals or replicas, *unless* they are a part for part replica. A friend of my Fathers has a £90000 D-Type Replica, that is indistinguishable to real thing. It is eligible to race with the real things, yet, is still a replica. That is an acceptable replica. Some though, are just not an option.

Good luck with the search. Send me some pictures when you've got it!

Oh, and as to that video... Na. This is a nice sound! (Sorry, i'm a lotus fan!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPjVUqpXwpA

Wow. Impressive.
How about this 1999 Honda Prelude with 700,000 miles? Only $5,000. link

thats really expensive if it has 700 000 miles that would go for $1000 where im at even if its in good shape but it says "1997 Honda Prelude SH coupe 5 speed transmission 125k miles" maybe it has a new engine/tranny beats me add is kinda misleading.

I agree with you on C/D-type replicas. And AC Cobra replicas, when they're done right.

I'm heading to Goodwood Revival festival in September so will be soaking up the noise of plenty of wonderful engines. Can't wait :D

Look at this stunner

If I only had that much money..

I swear to god you guys are so lucky. In New York State, forget about it. You can first get you're permit at 16, and your license at 18. You could get your license at 17 if you take drivers education courses. I'm 16, and I have my permit, but legally I'm only allowed to drive a car with dual brakes, but my dad is nice enough to take out to practice anyway, in empty lots. I can't wait to drive on the highway.

My daily driver is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The other is my project, an 89 Comanche. I'll probably lift the comanche so I can go rock crawling. I'd need to convert it over to 4WD first though.

Not the best picture/angle/etc., also not entirely mine. I will, however, inherit it, or its replacement, someday. And it's not correctly rotated, I have no idea how to fix that - it looks perfect in Finder, and it's far too late/early to fix it now. Sorry :(

Ok so this isn't my car, but I was able to drive it for the day.

It was part of a sales contest and I got to go pick it up. I was told to go have fun and have it back by 5p.

It was everything I thought it would be! :D

Why not tune a sedan? BMW 3 Series. About $3000 into it. It's my brother's old BMW. Was featured on BMW's site.

I love Cherokees. Owned 3 of them, still have my 2000. Perfect size for me and blend of utility and size.

Wish they never brought out the liberty to replace it.
