Ohh..

Here's a before and after picture of me & my father's '68 Fairlane 500:

before_1.png

after_1.png

The first picture is from April 2008 when we bought it. Picked it up for $400, as it was going to be crushed. The second picture was taken in August 2010. Since we bought it, we've (my dad and I) mainly worked on the cosmetics. This year we are working on the mechanical stuff. It was sitting in a barn for 9 years without moving, so it was pretty rough.

For those interested, it's got a 289ci V8. All matching numbers. Everything surprisingly still works, including the power convertible top. My dad and I hope to get her on the road and at car shows summer 2011 :)

Nice! Didn't know Canada got nice cars like that lol JK

Very good looking SL but... Are those chrome wheels? YUK!

Yah, chrome rims. I honestly really like them on a black car, they honestly look really nice when driving.

I would have honestly preferred some nice matte black rims myself, but this is my dad's car and he says that doesn't care about cars enough to invest in rims and will just take whatever is stock that looks good.

What made you trade the 370Z for a Mustang? Not criticizing as I love them both, but that Z was like so new

412 horses :)
I had a 350 before the 370 and enjoyed it. My experiences with Nissan and the 370 haven't been great. I will never purchase another Nissan.

The Mustang is definitely more fun to drive than the Z. The power is incredible!

I like the way chrome wheels bounce light off cement walls in places like parking garages when the sun shines on them. Call it gaudy if you wish, but I'll just call you a lemming. :D

Not really a muscle car fan, but I must give props to the 5.0 for what it gives you for the price. With the M3 comparison, I gotta say the stang held its own (especially for being much less expensive) - but I just like the refinery of the BMW and the technology and luxury that goes with it... Speed just isn't everything

I have an Infiniti (nissan product) and really love it though!

Though never say never... Nissan GT-R is an amazing car, and a used one for $60,000 blows the stang out of the water (handling AND speed).

and during the winter i drive a 1999 Mercury Sable LS with 160,000 miles

Perhaps you should get him some as a gift. ;)

What negative experiences did you have? Total lemon?

Nice pick with the 5.0, it's a hell of a time to be dropping dimes on RWD American V8s, that's for sure. All of the big three have a hell of an offering, you really can't go wrong with any of them, be it Challenger/Camaro/Stang/Vette.:)

Engine was fine, but I was having problems with small things, such as the motor for the hatch going out, transmitter for the push button start went out, I had enough! The car wasn't even 2 years old. Nissan's service department is absolutely horrible.

The price I paid for the 2011 Mustang was $7,000 cheaper than what I paid for the 2009 Nissan 370 Z! Yes, the Z is prettier and the interior is a bit more upscale, but I wanted to try something new. Microsoft Sync is cool too!

The dealerships are independent from the manufactures. So if a service department at a dealer is crap, it only reflects on that dealer.

For everyone with BMW's, care to confirm/deny?

My dads E46 330xi has had a few issues when the mileage started getting high and currently with my brother at 150,000 miles and it has had several issues from what he had told me.

My dads current E90 335xi at 32,000 miles has been good so far.

BMW's are great vehicles to drive especially the 335xi with the Twin Turbo Inline 6 making 300 HP and 300 lb.-ft. of torque at just 1400 RPM. But yeah, when they break it is going to cost you money.

My dad has an old 67' Fairlane. Got it fairly cheap and fixed it up.

How does my age have any relevance to dealerships are independent of the manufacture?

It doesn't.

However, my personal experience proves otherwise on the dealer point. For example, all Citroen dealers in São Paulo are owned by the same group (SHC), and they all suck. The same group even owns some other manufacturer's dealerships. It's not the dealership itself, it is who the auto maker chose to represent them. Though the other PSA (Citroen/Peugeot) dealers across the country, and even in other countries suffer the same customer service problem. That doesn't mean there are no good ones, though. When we had our Citroen C4, which was sold last month, for nearly 3 years we were always nicely recieved by the dealer, which never gave us any trouble.

Nevertheless, it is true that 99% of the times the problem resides with the representatives and not with the manufacturer itself.

PS: I am a teenager.

PPS: Please forgive any typos. It's 3:10AM here.
