Porsche is still the most successful sports car racing company on the planet, so they must be doing things right. I don't think there is any sports race car that can be called ubiquitous, other than the Porsche 911 platform.
porsche was cool...until it succumbed to that god-awful sin called the vw tourag suv. now all i see are she-men and women all over NYC with that thing.

...Porsche needs to fire all it's design people anyways. They've only designed two things from scratch and they're both pants ********ly ugly. ... Life is too short to drive anything with less than 300 horsepower.
i'll agree...we can apply this to Acura/Honda's design team too :D

NICE! I'm currently looking for a Dakota 4x4. Been driving my Step-dad's GMC Sierra some lately and I've decided I want a truck and I love Dodge trucks. My friend has a 2011 Ram ST 4x4 and it's sweet. 4.7 has enough grunt behind it. I dunno why you'd even need a Hemi. lol We hit the speed limiter at 105 yesterday. Seemed like it'd hit 125 with ease if it wasn't for aerodynamics. lol

It is just common automotive math. Sell lots of road cars to fund your racing business. You might not like the Cayenne or Panamera, but they are #1 and #2 in sales for Porsche. Sales that are making them lots of money that they use to continue to be very dominant in racing. Plus, lets not forget, since the Cayenne first went into production, these road cars were also produced....

  • Carrera GT
  • 997 Sport Classic
  • 996 GT3-RS
  • 997 GT3
  • 997 GT3-RS
  • 997 GT3-RS 4.0
  • 997 GT2
  • 997 GT2-RS
  • Boxter Spyder
  • Cayman R

So, even though they are now venturing into new markets with some vehicles, it is making them a lot of money, and they are using that money to still build some amazing sports cars.

The F-150 used too much gas - I was paying more for gas each month than I was for the loan.

So, I traded it in on a 2011 Nissan Altima.

You're close. The 1.3L rotary is actually closer to a 2.6L reciprocating engine in terms of displacement. See this article: http://www.rx7.com/techarticles_displacement.html

I have an odd affinity for rotary engines. There's just something really cool about the way they work, and it certainly helps that there was an RX7 sitting in my driveway for a good part of my childhood. If I remember correctly, our biggest issue with the engine was that it liked to eat oil.

EDIT: lewis82 beat me to the bunch by what... 4 hours? This is why you should refresh (really) old tabs before replying.

Oh, true. I forgot that one side isn't undergoing combustion--oops. My main point was that you can't really brag about the rotary's power-to-displacement ratio because the only reason it's designated as a 1.3L is sort of a fluke. It's like saying my Honda Fit makes 146hp/L, if you only count two of the cylinders.

You can't see the front mount on my M3, but it's boosted...

Getting rid of it soon and looking for a slightly used E92 M3 4DR.

My BMW X5. Handles like a coupe.

goes offroad like one too :D

I loved when Jeremy Clarkson took either the x3 or x5 up a slightly wet grass covered hill and the wheels just spun. He put it in park and set the parking brake on and it still rolled back down the hill.

That has to do with tires also.

It was an X6. The episode was on today during their memorial day marathon. For what it's worth, my 2004 STi did the same thing in the snow with the stock tires.

Very nice! Love the car, and the photography!
I can't tell from the picture, but is that the 335i? or the iS?

With those rims and that sideskirt, 335is.

Edit: I take that back. Mistook the rims for the 269s. MY 2011?

Nice one! Here's the one I drive. it's an early '10 model. Love it to death.

A picture from when it was new in the dealer and 2 recent ones.

Although I'll post another pic soon. As much as I love this car, the gas prices annoy me. An audi A7 will be it's replacement. I first need to sell this one for a decent price. Otherwise I'll keep it.

it's just a physical thing. Couldn't be bothered when I calculate the year's extra expenses on gas but when I'm at the gas station and I have to pay 125 Euro's again, I get annoyed.

Why not ditch the Evo and keep the E36? JK. I just love the E36 M3, and yours is just so clean!

I keep trying to think of excuses to keep it, but just can't.

My wife and I just had our first child. I need four doors. Plus, a 450+ hp RWD car at this stage in my life just isn't practical.

The Evo has four doors, is AWD, and at 375 hp is a very fun car to drive and track.

The E92 4 door - boosted is my next goal.

So a 450hp boosted e36 is not practical....but a boosting a rwd e90 (btw the e92 is the coupe, e91 the wagon, e90 the sedan, and e93 the vert) M3 that started at over 400hp is practical?

Four doors? Big **** deal. I spent most of my childhood in the backseat of my dad's CLK. Kids are small, they'll fit anywhere. Drive a coupe while you can still mush them back there.

Nothing wrong with a fodor M3. It is still an M3.

Boosting an E92 to 450 HP is more practical than boosting an E36 to that much power. The E92 was designed for that much power (the M3 GTS is around 475 HP), and mostly has suspension and brakes out of the box to balance the power. Not so for the E36. To boost that to 450 HP (from original 230), you need significant mods to brakes and suspension to end up with a balanced car.

Hah!

I didn't say when I was looking to get one. Obviously it will be some time down the road.
