But moar MPG and nicer ride. No passengers thrown backwards when you decide to accelerate.

Never been in a 116i, but the 118i is as low as I would go. It's no slouch, but struggling to keep up on acceleration with a 14 year old Citroen Xsara isn't exactly something good for a brand new BMW... The 116d, though, looks much better.

03 Olds Alero, just picked it up yesterday. My total cost: $29:D

I swapped my big burly SUV in for it. Straight trade between the two, the $29 was for gas to and from town to get it.

ЧИКАГО!
My latest and greatest car:

A 1968 VEB Sachsenring...
Trabant 601 deluxe!

Straight from Zwickau, via Czech republic....

It is need of a little TLC before hitting the streets of Chicago.
Fortunately, the fine German Engineering and the obvious high quality of its construction should make the few, minor necessary repairs simple.

Technical specs:
600cc or 0.6L, 2-cylinder, 2-cycle air-cooled engine.
4-wheel drum brakes
manual rack & pinion steering
transverse leaf-spring sort-of independent front and rear suspension
non-metallic "duroplast" composite body panels
spiraized-fiber bumper retention unit (see video) :p

It reminds me of my first car, a SAAB 96 with 3 cylinders, also a 1968 model with a 2-cycle engine. Here I am, back where I started!

Here's a short youtube video of the car running:

Have Fun,
Keri

Whats the 0-60 on that beast :D assuming it can do 60 ;)

LOL!

Rated top speed is 100kph = 62mph. Actual top speed in good order is often 120kph = about 75mph. It appears obligatory to post 120kph excursions on YouTube so that people will believe you.

0-60 time is usually something on the order of "eventually".

Have Fun,
Keri

A little about the Trabant:

They were manufactured in the "Communist" German Democratic Republic (East Germany) from the 1950's all the way till 1991 when the Soviet Union disbanded. Now it's just Germany. The town Zwickau is still there but is now sadly lacking its one great export.

"Trabant" is German for Sputnik, which is Russian for Satellite. An existing car was re-modeled and renamed in honor of the first space satellite, Sputnik.

This particular model, the Trabant 601 was manufactured from about 1961 until 1991 with virtually no changes. About 3 million were built.

When the Berlin Wall came down, a great many people defected to West Germany by driving these cars across the border and ditching the car at the border.

The Trabant 601 is widely regarded as "The Worst Car Ever Built" and as such is now a collectors item. They are famous for being made of cardboard and smoking like an Iraqi oil field fire.
Lies, All Lies! It's a fine, wonderful car. It's not really cardboard and it's not difficult to get the extremely simple engine to run well and not smoke. Much.

What does "putting it in H" mean? If you are referring to shifting gears, it has a manual transmission with 4 speeds though the "shift pattern" is unusual.
Ein, Zwei Drei, Vier! oh, and Rückwärtsgang for going backwards.

Have Fun,
Keri

PS. I wonder how much Apple will pay me to NOT put an Apple sticker in the window? :p

That's reply is more than I bargained for but rest assured, I am better for knowing. As for the "Put it in H" bit, it's become synonymous with any beater car from a nondescript European country. It's origins is credited to an episode on The Simpsons.

Had this for about a week and a half now. 2000 Infiniti I30. Only has 23k miles, which made my dad really push for me to get this :D. And it helped that the interior is MINT
