I loathe every time I drive an Automatic...And congrats! I would have killed to drive anything OTHER than what I had till I was 25.... I hope it turns out to be reliable for you, especially the dreaded Vanos!

Off to fix my failed fuel pump. 180k miles on the chassis...woot!

On another note, when/which models do the headlights change on the E46? I notice on the 2002 320i that DJMastaWes has, they are more agressive, IMO cleaner, but the one Mif has are cutoff in the middle.

The sedans received the facelift in 2002. Non-M coupes in 2004.

My latest and greatest car:

A 1968 VEB Sachsenring...
Trabant 601 deluxe!

Straight from Zwickau, via Czech republic....

It is need of a little TLC before hitting the streets of Chicago.
Fortunately, the fine German Engineering and the obvious high quality of its construction should make the few, minor necessary repairs simple.

Technical specs:
600cc or 0.6L, 2-cylinder, 2-cycle air-cooled engine.
4-wheel drum brakes
manual rack & pinion steering
transverse leaf-spring sort-of independent front and rear suspension
non-metallic "duroplast" composite body panels
spiraized-fiber bumper retention unit (see video) :p

It reminds me of my first car, a SAAB 96 with 3 cylinders, also a 1968 model with a 2-cycle engine. Here I am, back where I started!

Here's a short youtube video of the car running:

Have Fun,
Keri

Congrats for the Trabant.
I've seen one full rest. and it was very cool.
The history of the trabant is very cool too "resists to rust but not to everything else" :D

Some new pic of my new baby, although I really miss my Lada Niva :(

Hi,all, this's my new car in the garage, have a check on it...

Even though I know its not your car, I never understood why people will mod a Ferrari, especially the 458... they're designed to be as good as they can be, leave them alone! Especially the wheels, those things are ugly!

Completely agree. The 458 is one of the best looking cars stock. Matte paint jobs are nice though, and some aftermarket rims can look amazing on ferraris, but the picture posted above went quite a bit overboard.

It is a very handsome touring. My parents own the 2010 320d touring it is awesome, but the new 520D is a step ahead.

Just a month ago I had a 320d touring. It honestly drives better. Driving the 320d is like strapping on a jetpack, te 520d is more like a chainsaw engine with a propeller as a rucksack, and a pair of roller-skates :p

Anyway, got this 520d July 1st of this year, just passed 4000km yesterday :p

What sort of MPG do you get on the motorway from that? I'm looking at decent cars for commuting when I get a job, and the Fiesta just looks so good.

New York, Baby!
Only for Saturday and Sunday, but it was a Toyota Matrix.
Toyota-Matrix_2009_800x600_wallpaper_01.jpg

It was my first time driving in the US, and we're planning on driving up to Vermont from Queens. As I'd never driven out here, I figured I should have a little test run. I also wanted to see if I could even hire a car, as even though I'm still classed as a UK resident, I'm going through the permanent residence thing since I got married so have no return ticket or anything.

This was all they had for $99 at Avis, and the rest of the car rentals at JFK were sold out.

We drove locally around Queens, went to a party in Long Beach and then went shopping at Green Acres (I got a few things I need to add onto new purchases).

All in all, I found that I could translate my driving over to driving on the right hand side of the road, but found my peripheral vision took some time to get used to everything being around the wrong way. I also didn't like how the turnpike is only 55mph, that should totally have a 70mph limit! I found that I could still parallel park too, so was happy at that!

It got good mpg, was fairly comfortable and I filled it back up before giving it back, we barely used 2 gallons and gas is SO CHEAP here.

I'm thinking about something bigger for the trip up to vermont though, as we'll be driving with my wife's friend to different places and the Matrix seemed a little cramped in the back.

Driving an automatic seemed strange to me too. I'm so used to manual cars, but I'm not sure which I'd prefer when it comes to actually buying a car here (which I really want to do now!).
